    BBC Radio Devon

Changes to the way houses are built in the new town of Sherford are being discussed by planners at South Hams District Council later today.

Developers want to replace a strict set of design rules known as the 'town code' with a set of guiding principles.

The 'town code' is basically a set of design rules affecting things like how the houses are built, where people park and how the streets are laid out.

Campaigners worry this could mean the houses won't be built to a high enough standards. But the developer denies this and says the only reason it wants to replace the 'town code' with a guiding set of principles is to give it more architectural flexibility, so it can deliver houses that the market wants in the future.
