A Cornish farmer says his family feel fearful and vulnerable because they believe animal rights activists could be targeting land within the government's badger cull area.
Farms across the South West are part of the Defra-licenced scheme in a bid to eradicate bovine TB in cattle.
Devon and Cornwall Police said an operation was in place to prevent criminality, including extra patrols.
A senior officer has also confirmed the force was investigating reports of "significant damage to pheasant pens", estimated at £10,000, reported by a local shooting syndicate.
Badger culling is part of the government's 25-year strategy to eradicate bovine TB, but opponents say there is no evidence it is effective.
