    All three men injured when they were hit by gunshot at a Cornwall estate have been released from hospital say the organisers of the shoot.

    Police are investigating after three men were shot and seriously injured during a pheasant shoot on the 1,500-acre Carnanton Estate near Newquay in Cornwall on Thursday.

    The Duchy Working Gundog Club, which held the event, said all three men were airlifted to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth and have since been discharged from hospital.

    A spokeswoman said the incident was "upsetting" but declined to comment further.

    The Gundog Club was formed in 1995 "as a training club" for working gundogs and has more than 200 members.

    An estate spokesman said: "We allow them to use the estate but no-one from the estate was present." He declined to comment further.

    Police in Kingsbridge have appealed for witnesses and are trying to trace a woman who assisted a teenager after he was allegedly seriously assaulted and forced into a car in Devon.

    Officers said the 18-year-old man was attacked "by a number of people" at about 21:30 on Tuesday, 24 October, in Woodhouse Lane, Kingsbridge, near to the Ring O' Bells pub. He was attacked again at an unknown location and then released near West Alvington Cricket Club.

    He managed to flag down a passing female motorist who helped him and drove him home. She was described as in her 40s, possibly Polish, and driving a 4x4-type vehicle.

    A 17-year-old girl from Saltash and a 19-year-old man from Modbury have been arrested in connection with the incident and released under investigation.

    Det Con Laura Logan, of Devon and Cornwall Police, said: "This was a very serious incident and thankfully the victim did not sustain more serious injuries."

    A container full of supplies for a refugee camp in Sierra Leone, sent from the Penrice Academy in St Austell, has arrived in Africa.

    The school raised £17,000 to help thousands of children dying of malaria in Kissi Town.

    Assistant Principal Chris Knipe said that, after two months of travel, there were a few problems getting the container through customs, but these were solved by friends on the ground.

    Police are investigating after three men were seriously injured in a pheasant shoot.

    Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed inquiries were under way linked to the incident at the Carnanton Estate on Thursday morning.

    Three men taking part in the shoot were airlifted to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth after suffering serious injuries said The Duchy Working Gundog Club, which held the event.

    The Health and Safety Executive confirmed it is also investigating the incident.

    Police said the men were injured by shotgun pellets during the shoot. No-one has been arrested.

    A charity box, cash, and alcohol are among a number of items stolen following a burglary at Launceston Football Club.

    The culprits are believed to have entered the club by smashing a window between the hours of 20:30 on Sunday and 09:20 this morning, the club said.

    The Launceston burglary is the second such sports club break-in Devon and Cornwall Police are investigating from over the weekend.

    In Devon, Ilfracombe Rugby Club said it had a "substantial amount of money" taken during a break-in in the early hours of Sunday.

    If you hear gun fire and loud bangs in the Barne Barton area of Plymouth on Tuesday 14, then fear not.

    The Royal Marines have advised that a planned exercise taking place in the designated disaster exercise site in Devonport Naval Base may cause some noise disruption in the area.

    The exercise is to be undertaken by a new recruit troop from Commando Training Centre at Lympstone, and will be supported by the amphibious craft and staff of 1 Assault Squadron Royal Marines.

    As winter draws in, hospitals in the South West are bracing themselves for an increase in patients.

    Plans are being rolled out to cope with demand, including a new 111 and GP out-of-hours service in Cornwall, along with a scheme to "get people out of hospital quicker" with generic at-home support workers.

    Dr Ian Chorlton, chair of NHS Kernow, is "confident that this is really going to help stop large numbers of people being stranded in hospital".

    However, with NHS England warning of a bad flu season, he is urging patients to prepare.

    He said: "Have the flu jab, whether you're a healthcare worker or someone with a long term condition, and think about where you're going for advice. Use the NHS website, external, the 111 service, pharmacies and your GP before pitching up to the emergency department."

    Overnight works start this evening to resurface the busy Sandygate roundabout in Exeter.

    The M5 junction and the service station will be closed from 20:00 until 05:00, with other parts of the works due to be carried out overnight until Friday 15 December.

    Some nights would involve lane closures on the Sandygate roundabout and other on the local services' roundabout, engineers said.

    There would be a diversion to Junction 29 for any drivers wanting to get on to the M5, they added.

    A man in distress was taken to hospital after he was seen struggling in about 8ft of open water in Plympton, Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue says.

    Two fire engines were sent to the site in the early hours of Sunday following a call from police, who spotted the man struggling in the stretch of water behind the police station on Station Road.

    The Tory Brook runs behind the station.

    The man was out of the water by the time fire crews arrived, but was given first aid at the scene and taken to hospital, the fire service said, external.

    The proposed change to fortnightly waste collections in Cornwall may be "perceived by residents as negative", according to a report prepared for Cornwall Council's cabinet.

    The cabinet will meet on Wednesday to discuss the possibility of moving to fortnightly collections for waste that cannot be recycled, and weekly recycling collections.

    The report, prepared for Cornwall Council by officer Peter Marsh, external, states: "There is evidence that such a change is often perceived by residents as negative at the start, but if well communicated and resourced effectively this is short-lived."

    Football supporters in Exeter have reacted angrily to a change in train services to St James Park railway station.

    Trains are no longer stopping at the station next to the football ground when Exeter City and the Exeter Chiefs rugby club play on the same day. They have to walk in from the city's Central Station instead.

    City fan Neil Le Millier said many supporters would be affected.

    He said: "It is biased. It hasn't taken into consideration the football supporters who come in from Barnstaple, from Torquay, from Exmouth."

    Operator Great Western Railway said it was trying to improve services for both football and rugby supporters, adding it was working with both clubs.

    It added that it was going to review the trial at the end of next month.

    Fitness instructor Matthew Scully-Hicks, from Delabole, Cornwall, was jailed for life and told he will serve a minimum of 18 years.

    Police in Callington say they are trying to trace whoever dumped a bin bag full of empty nitrous oxide canisters in a car park.

    Officers said on Facebook, external the bag was found in the Saltash Road car park at about 08:00 and that local CCTV was being examined to see who disposed of or used the canisters.

    Nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, is taken as a recreational drug. Its sale has been illegal since May when the Psychoactive Substances Act, external came into force.

    Callington Police said: "Extra patrols in the area will be conducted due to the increasing anti social behaviour and now it seems drug misuse in the area."

    Building just a few affordable homes for young families in rural areas could preserve the life of Devon's towns and villages, according to a report by the National Housing Federation, external.

    It claimed the loss of post offices, pubs and schools was driving young people away.

    Figures from Devon County Council showed houses in some parts of the county cost more than 10 times the average annual salary.

    The housing federation claimed spending on affordable housing projects in Dorset, Shropshire and Northumberland had revitalised rural life.

    Improvements to the A38 at the Carkeel roundabout, near Saltash, have been completed six months ahead of schedule, Cornwall Council says.

    The £6m project has been designed to ease congestion for an estimated 10 million vehicles which pass through the junction each year,

    It features a larger roundabout with traffic signals, and bigger feeder roads.

    All traffic cones have been removed. The council said engineers would continue to monitor the traffic signals over the next few months to ensure their working matched the demands on each part of the roundabout.
