    Members of a Devon rugby club say they are "heartbroken" after their clubhouse was broken into over the weekend and a "substantial amount of money" taken.

    The break-in at Ilfracombe Rugby Club is understood to have taken place in the early hours of Sunday.

    The club said on Facebook, external the money taken, mainly in coins, was used to fund sessions for children on Sundays.

    It club added that it was "run purely by volunteers who give up many hours and work so hard to ensure each week we can host rugby games".

    Police are investigating.

    Three men were injured in what appears to have been an accident during a pheasant shoot in Cornwall.

    Police said the men were injured by shotgun fire on the Carnanton Estate on Thursday morning.

    The three men, who were part of the shooting party, were taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital at Treliske with "non life-threatening" injuries.

    Police are treating the shooting as an accident and no-one has been arrested.

    Walnut the whippet remembered at final walk anniversary

    More than 100 dog walkers met on a beach in Newquay to remember Walnut the whippet, a year on.

    Pet owners walked the same route at Porth Beach with Mark Woods, Walnut's owner, and his new puppy, George.

    Last year, Mr Woods' appeal to share Walnut's final walk - before the dog was put down due to ill health - received international attention.

    Mr Woods said it was a "joyful" way to remember Walnut, although tears were shed at the event.

    Truro City manager Lee Hodges says his side's 3-1 win over National League South leaders Dartford was a great way to bounce back from their FA Cup disappointment.

    City lost 3-1 at League Two Charlton Athletic last Sunday in their first-ever first-round fixture. But a Tyler Harvey penalty and two Cody Cooke goals inside the first 20 minutes ensured a return to winning ways.

    "I think we showed what we are about today," Hodges told BBC Radio Cornwall.

    "It's probably a great game to come and play after what happened on Sunday, playing top of the league.

    "I felt from 30 seconds in we were testing the keeper and on the front foot and it seemed that way for the whole first half."

    The airlift rescue of a man who fell from Mevagissey quay on Sunday can be seen in dramatic footage from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.

    Two lifeboats, a helicopter and a coastguard rescue team were deployed to the man during what the RNLI has called "the first bitterly cold evening of winter".

    Delays caused by roadworks on the A386 in the Derriford area of Plymouth have forced Citybus to run some school buses earlier, the company says.

    Citybus said an emergency timetable had been introduced on its 101 and 102 services, which take pupils to City College and Devonport High School for Boys from Tamerton Foliot and Roborough.

    The company said the move would help cut delays and overcrowding, but also admitted it was "unlikely" to completely resolve the issue.

    Other routes that used Tavistock Road would be unaffected, it added.

    Cornish Pirates coach Alan Paver says his side are starting to reap the rewards of their work in training.

    The Pirates beat Hartpury 25-13 to move up to seventh in the Championship.

    Sunday's win was just the club's third in the league this season and the first time they have won back-to-back league games since February.

    "The last four weeks the guys have put in some serious work in and it's paid off on the field," joint head coach Paver told BBC Radio Cornwall.

    "It was touch and go for long periods of time, but with a good start and a good finish we were able to squeeze it."

    Shops are being encouraged to turn their music off as noise can make some people with dementia feel unsettled.

    Stores also being encouraged to put up pictures of coins and notes with their values by the till, to make paying simpler.

    An information stand is being set up to help people who need extra support.

    The number of complaints about Devon County Council which were upheld by the ombudsman has increased by almost 40% in the last 12 months.

    In 2016, 18 complaints were investigated and upheld. In 2017, that number jumped to 25.

    In 10 of those cases, the council paid the person who'd complained to address any inconvenience or distress caused.

    The payments for the year ending 2017 added up to almost £14,000.

    A man airlifted to hospital after falling from Mevagissey's quay had to be rescued on the "first bitterly cold evening of the winter", the RNLI says.

    Two lifeboats, a helicopter and a coastguard rescue team were called out on Sunday evening after the slipped and fell from the pier into the village harbour.

    The man managed to get out of the water and scramble on to nearby rocks, where he remained for 30 minutes before he was winched off by a coastguard helicopter and flown to shore.

    The RNLI said: "The first bitterly cold evening of the winter with a chilly north westerly breeze meant that the lifeboats had to travel the distance between Fowey and Mevagissey as fast as possible."

    The man was taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital. Coastguards said he was believed to be doing well.

    Devon-born serial killer Rose West is reported to be seriously ill in prison, external with what could be a fatal condition.

    West, 63, was sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of 12 murders. Her husband, Fred West, hanged himself while he was awaiting trial for 12 murders.
