Great Western Railway is promising to listen to football fans angry at a decision to trial a route that leaves off St James Park on days Exeter Chiefs and Exeter City Football Club are playing.

Anyone wanting to watch football has to get off at Central Station and walk to the St James ground.

The train company said it was to cut down on delays and overcrowding, which were particular problems when both the Grecians and Chiefs played on the same day.

The move, described by some fans as crazy, would be reviewed after a trial period ended in December, the train operator said.

Lonely pheasant finds a friend in Exeter mirror sculpture

A lonely male pheasant living a bachelor's life on the University of Exeter campus thinks it has found some very similar looking friends.

Unfortunately, the two-year-old bird has actually been looking at its own reflection in a sculpture called "Reflected Vision", which is made up of six mirrors.

Staff have "unofficially adopted" the pheasant who has been living on site since May, and named him Brewster.

His arrival coincides with research by Dr Joah Madden which shows pheasants have exceptionally small brains, the university said.
