The former health boss is one of eight people nationally to have had their honours annulled for bringing the system into disrepute.

Earlier this year she was given a 16-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, and ordered to complete 250 hours unpaid work by Exeter Crown Court.

  9. Millionaire death widow not 'in it for the money'published at 15:02 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2017

It was "nonsense" to say that a widow accused of involvement in the death of her businessman husband was engaged in legal proceedings "for the money", the High Court has heard.

Ukrainian Ganna Ziuzina, 38, has asked for a ruling that she did not murder millionaire Barry Pring from Devon, who died in a hit-and-run in Kiev on their first wedding anniversary in 2008.

Mr Pring's family, who are based in Tiverton, believe the 47-year-old IT consultant's death was deliberate and premeditated and that Ms Ziuzina, who has changed her name by deed poll to Julianna Moore, was implicated, said the the judicial officer.

If that belief was proved to be correct, the forfeiture rule - which precludes a person who has unlawfully killed another from benefiting in consequence - would "unquestionably" apply, he added.

Any hearing is unlikely before autumn 2018.

"I was prepared to do everything in my power to prove the truth," he said.

"I was never going to admit to something that I had not done intentionally, regardless of the consequences."

Webster was the only British competitor in the men's weightlifting at the Rio Olympics, and finished 14th in the 94kg category. He was fifth when competing for England at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
