    A man in his late 40s from Crediton, Devon, has been missing in western Thailand since 30 December.

    Martin Wood, 48, was last seen leaving the Dream Boutique Hotel in the Cha-am district of Phetchaburi, Thailand by hotel staff.

    His family has launched an appeal through the Lucie Blackman Trust hoping to find him and have said he is in a "fragile state".

    Martin is 5ft 10ins (1.7m) tall, of medium build, with thinning mousey brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing shorts and a T-shirt.

    Newquay Zoo has bred one of the most endangered deer species in the world.

    The female Philippine spotted deer was born to mother Sookie and father Alfie on 23 December.

    Curator of animals John Meek said the zoo has been "very successful with this species in recent years".

    "We have a recommendation for breeding and we breed them every year. Philippine spotted deer are probably the most endangered deer in the world - partly because of habitat destruction, but illegal hunting is a problem, too.”

    An out-of-hours crisis service is being piloted in Cornwall.

    The aim is to prevent people with mental health problems going to A&E.

    Valued Lives is a new charity that gives immediate access to support from wellbeing workers and volunteers.

    It's running an out-of-hours crisis service which people can contact through its website or on the phone, as well as being able to speak to someone in person.

    The service will be piloted for three months from a hub in Redruth after being awarded £70,000 from NHS England.

    Two men have been rescued after their dinghy capsized off Exmouth leaving them "calling for help" in the water.

    Exmouth RNLI launched their inshore lifeboat, George Bearman II, at 12:40 on Sunday after a member of the public reported two people in the water.

    It is believed they hit a wave and the boat started to fill with water, Exmouth RNLI added.

    Helm, Ian Taylor said both men were "suffering from hypothermia and sea water ingestion".

    "One seemed to recover straight away but the other was in a worse condition, so they were both taken to hospital by an ambulance for observation."

    The chairman of the Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team, who had hundreds of pounds worth of equipment stolen from her car, has said she holds "no bitterness" towards the person who did it.

    Vicky Coumbes discovered thieves had stolen equipment including first aid kits and GPS systems from her car in Plymouth on Saturday morning - just as she was preparing for a call out.

    She said she helps search for vulnerable people in her line of work and doesn't know "what sort of situation the person was in that did it".

    "It initially made me a little bit angry - more over the inconvenience of it all. We search for vulnerable people all the time and I don't know how vulnerable this person was, so I don't want to hold any bitterness towards it because it wont get me anywhere."

    A takeaway restaurant has been "badly damaged" by a fire overnight, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service has said.

    Fire crews were called to the property on Embankment Road in Plymouth about 02:00.

    The fire service added that the restaurant, which takes up the ground floor of the building, suffered 75% damage by smoke and fire and the external ducting was also badly damaged.

    There are no reports of any injuries and the cause is not yet known.

    A man has suffered "multiple fractures to his jaw" after being assaulted in Plymouth, police say.

    It happened on Union Street, outside the Union Rooms pub, between 01:00 and 03:00 on 1 January.

    A 19-year-old man was outside the venue when he was approached by a man who punched him in the face.

    He was taken to Derriford Hospital to receive treatment.

    The offender is described as a while man in his early 20s, approximately 5ft 11in, with short brown hair and wearing a tracksuit at the time.

    Anyone with information is being asked to contact Devon and Cornwall Police via 101.

    Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service has reminded people to look at its advice on fire safety for caravans and mobile homes, external after a camper van was recently destroyed in a blaze.

    Crews were called to the Wilmington area on 6 January at about 12:45 where they found the camper van "well alight".

    The fire was accidental but destroyed the vehicle, the fire service added.

    A woman has been left with a broken wrist after being assaulted in Torquay, police say.

    It happened at the taxi rank on The Strand at about 03:30 on 28 December.

    The 22-year-old woman from Teignmouth was pushed to the ground by unknown offenders and sustained a broken wrist.

    Her purse was also thrown into the road.

    Devon and Cornwall Police is appealing for witnesses and want anyone with information to contact them via 101.

    A man has suffered "life-changing" injuries after his car crashed into trees in Devon on Friday, police say.

    It happened in Kenton at about 18:20 on an unclassified road near Black Forest Lodge.

    The driver, a man in his 30s, was trapped in his Isuzu pick-up vehicle when emergency services arrived at the scene.

    He is currently in hospital.

    Witnesses are being asked to contact Devon and Cornwall Police via 101.
