    The Royal Cornwall Hospital's new birthing unit has been officially opened by actress, Jenny Agutter.

    The Call the Midwife star met the staff and some newborn babies and said the unit was "absolutely wonderful".

    "It's clearly doing a fantastic job since it opened - there's been almost 160 babies and I think there were four last night! Obviously the staff here care wonderfully for people and always have but they have great facilities now in which to give that care."

    The midwife-led facility opened within the existing maternity wing at the end of 2017 and will handle about 1,200 births a year.

    Plymouth Argyle Ladies are looking to keep their FA Cup run going and book a place in the last 16 for the first time in their history.

    The team has won its last 22 league and cup games and go into their rearranged tie with Leicester as the lowest ranked side left in the competition.

    Goalkeeper Michaela Phillips says the team is confident.

    She added: "We believe in ourselves. We like it when the pressure's on us because we know how well we can play. Whatever happens, we know that we have something to be proud of."

    If they win on Sunday they'll be through to the fifth round draw.

    Devon and Cornwall's Police and Crime Commissioner has applauded the multi-agency response to the suspected modern slavery raid on a Cornish farm.

    Three men were arrested on suspicion of slavery offences in the raid at Bosahan Farm, Manaccan, Helston on Thursday.

    The 200 workers are believed to be mostly male migrants from Lithuania, Romania and Bulgaria.

    Alison Hernandez said it was an "excellent coordinated response".

    "I am pleased to see police and partners coming together and taking this alleged offence very seriously. I believe we need to do more within our communities to bring an end to these medieval practices."

    Two men were arrested on suspicion of modern slavery offences and one man was taken into custody on suspicion of gangmaster offences on Thursday morning.

    One of the arrested men has been released while investigations continue.

    Sunday's Cornish Pirates' game against Yorkshire Carnegie has been postponed after a pitch inspection ruled it would be "unplayable" with a forecast of further rain.

    We had six fire crews at the scene, two from Taunton, two from Wellington, one from Cullompton and a specialist vehicle from Middlemoor Exeter. Crews used hydraulic rescue equipment to extricate three casualties who were trapped.
