    The Environment Agency issued a flood alert for the south Devon coast yesterday from Start Point to Dawlish Warren.

    The agency said flooding was possible at high tide until Sunday.

    On the A379 at Torcross along the Slapton line, one lane has been taken out by the sea.

    Devon County Council says 200m of the road has been washed away.

    Police in Kingsbridge said the area between Torcross and Strete Gate was "impassable" and storm force winds were battering the area.

    Officers added "massive waves" were throwing up shingle and debris onto the road.

    "It is extremely dangerous," a spokesman said. "Please stay away. No photo is worth a serious injury or death."

    The decision was made due to the snowy and icy conditions in and around the stadium and the severity of weather conditions.

  10. Devon travel: Accidents blocking roadspublished at 11:31 Greenwich Mean Time 2 March 2018

    • On the M5 Southbound, between Wellington and the North Devon Link Road two lanes are closed due to an accident
    • Also on the M5 northbound at J30 Exeter Service, one lane is closed due to an accident. The conditions are poor along the rest of the M5
    • The A303 on the Blackdown Hills between the A358 and the A30 is still closed in both directions
    • In Ilfracome the A361 is blocked between Ilfracombe and the Mullacott Cross Roundabout. The police have informed drivers not to attempt this stretch of road
    • The A376 Exeter Road between Summer Lane and Station Road is blocked due to snow and stranded vehicles
    • The A379 at Torcross along the Slapton lane one section has been taken out by the sea. Also on the A379 the road between Kiln Lane and Hynetown Road the road has been closed due to damage on the roads from high tides, and Shaldon Bridge is blocked in both directions due to the snow
    • There is slow traffic on the A38, and Haldon Hill between Kennford and Chudleigh is open to cars but not lorries at this time. Conditions remain poor
    • The A380 Telegraph Hill is still closed between the Splatford Split and Kingsteignton
    • On the A385 between Paignton and Totnes the road is now passable, using a 4x4.
    • The A386 Sourton between A30 and Tavistock remains blocked
    • On the A379 between Shaldon and Teignmouth is open but conditions are poor
    • In Tavistock the A390 between Ford Street and Commercial Street is closed due to snow
    • At Blackmoor Gate the A399 between Blackmoor Gate and Aller Cross is blocked due to snow
    • The Dartmouth lower ferry is suspended for the rest of the day - The Higher Ferry is operating a service
    • On the trains there's severe disruption to most services. All train operators are advising customers not to travel today
    • In Plymouth, all Falcon and Megabus suspended until later this morning.
    • Plymouth Citybus operating a very limited service
    • Stagecoach Services across North Devon are running a limited service - routes that are running are 10A 11A 19 21
    • The following Stagecoach services are not operating until further notice: 1 / 3/ 48/ 36/ 90/ X64/ X38/ Gold.
    • Exeter Airport is closed for all flights - they apologise for technical problems with their website
    • Traffic is moving well on the Tamar Bridge but there are very strong gusty winds so drive with care - There's around a 10 minute wait with three ferries currently running between Torpoint and Devonport.

    Some of the worst snow Devon has seen in years is causing severe disruption this morning...

    • At Dawlish in South Devon - there's been damage to the railway line in the last few hours - with flooding and debris blocking the line
    • Hundreds of drivers have spent the night stranded on roads in Devon, Somerset and Dorset - in what police have described as some of the worst weather they've seen in 25 years
    • Devon and Cornwall Police as well as Devon County Council are advising people not to travel and stay off the roads
    • Refuge centres were set up for drivers along the A38 and A30 as heavy snow and blizzards brought many roads to a standstill. Many roads are still impassable
    • The Royal Marines have also been using 4x4 - to get to those who need help
    • A rescue operation's under way in Beesands to get to stranded elderly residents - coastguards, fire and police are there after sea conditions became "very dangerous"
    • The runway at Exeter Airport is closed all day - and many bus services are struggling to operate
    • The bad weather's affecting hospitals - Torbay and North Devon hospitals have cancelled outpatient appointments
    • Over 200 schools are closed across the county because of the poor weather. Many children had the day off yesterday
    • The weather's also been affecting power supplies across the South West with 6,000 homes without power

    These photos of snowdrifts in Widegates, Cornwall have been sent to us and show the amount of snow which has fallen over the last 24 hours.

    Strong winds of up to 60mph are being seen across the South West, causing problems on the roads.

    Storm Emma has caused extensive flooding on the rail line at Dawlish.

    It's just been announced that a limited shuttle service is now running, but rail bosses are urging people to not use the service unless it's essential.

    Earlier debris was washed on to the tracks.

    One of the largest easterly wave events on record has been recorded, a professor in coastal geomorphology at Plymouth University has said.

    Professor Gerd Masselink said heights of 18ft (5.58m) were recorded at Start Bay - coinciding with spring high tides.

    The university is now focusing on surveying Devon's beaches as damage reports come in from Dawlish, Torcross and Beesands.

    • On the A30 Bodmin a broken-down lorry at Carminow Cross has been recovered
    • In Redruth A393 Sandy Lane is now clear after a collision involving motorbike around St Day Road
    • The Coach Road between St Ives and Lelant is blocked by a fallen tree
    • Between Helston and Culdrose traffic is very slow moving - tractors are trying to clear the snow away between Chacewater and the Penstraze
    • At Long Rock the Level crossing barriers at Poniou Lane are stuck down
    • At Newquay Airport flights to and from Dublin are cancelled
    • Skybus flights to and from the Isles of Scilly are grounded
    • On the trains there's severe disruption to most services
    • Great Western Railway and CrossCountry trains are advising customers not to travel today
    • Traffic's moving well on the Tamar Bridge and there's a 10 minute wait with 3 ferries running at Torpoint.

  20. 'Significant flooding' in Cornwallpublished at 10:46 Greenwich Mean Time 2 March 2018

    Fire crews from Penzance have been assisting with significant flooding in Porthallow, Cornwall.

    It comes after Storm Emma battered the south-west of England and other parts of the UK.

    Penzance Fire Station said the flooding was caused by "high river levels, large seas and high winds".
