    The Isles of Scilly is launching what it calls a "bold long term plan" for its vital tourism industry later.

    Tourism accounts for 85% of all jobs on the islands but the season is comparatively short.

    Today's launch includes new investment in transport and services along with a stronger emphasis on the island's cultural heritage and its potential as an eco-destination.

    James Berresford, chairman of the Islands' Partnership said the aim was to meet "the growing demand for discerning, authentic, experience-led tourism".

    A number of schools remain closed in Devon this morning.

    Snow and ice is making access to classrooms difficult in some areas.

    Full closures include Parracombe Church Of England Primary School, Widecombe-in-the-Moor Primary, Ratcliffe School, Blackawton Primary School and Barley Lane School.

    Partial closures include Lynton Church Of England Primary School, Kentisbury Primary School, Moretonhampstead Primary School, Ilsington Church Of England Primary School and Doddiscombesleigh Primary School.

    Devon County Council says the list will be updated when schools provide new information.

    Snow ploughs are still clearing roads of snow and ice in East Devon.

    The Mini Beast from the East caused many roads across the county to be blocked with snow and ice on Sunday and Monday.

    A small fire in a launderette started in a commercial tumble dryer, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, external said.

    The blaze in Cowick Street, Exeter, was dealt with by two crews using a thermal imaging camera to find the source of the smoke.
