    A teenager has died after the car she was in crashed into a tree near Barnstaple.

    Police confirmed Jodie Hynes died at North Devon Hospital after the crash north of Snapper last Friday.

    Her family said in a statement that the "beautiful, happy, kind and loving" teenager would be "missed and never forgotten".

    The driver, a 26-year-old man from Lynmouth, remains in hospital.

    Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash when a silver Corsa collided with the tree at about 03:30.

    Street parking enforcement has been suspended across Devon because of the bad weather.

    Devon County Council is encouraging people to retrieve their cars "when it is safe to do so" if they have had to abandon them in the snow.

    Torbay Council has also issued the same advice and says all parking enforcement has been suspended until 07:00 tomorrow, external.

    It says many of the main routes in Torquay, Paington and Brixham which have been gritted are now clearing, although some residential roads and footpaths may take a little longer.

    Torquay seafront has also now reopened.

    Communities remain cut off in North Devon after heavy snow hit the region.

    Andrea Davis, North Devon councillor, said many settlements were cut off, including Blackmoor Gate, Lynton, Brendon and Challacombe.

    "Combe Martin is only accessible by 4x4, but it's a changing situation because of drifting snow."

    She said Devon County Council hoped to clear the A-roads later, but many minor roads were still covered in deep snow.

    The snow has also led to the cancellation of some bus services in Cornwall, while others are delayed.

    Paul Smith, operations manager for First Kernow, says they are trying to keep customers updated with the latest news.

    "We're obviously putting out on our social media - Twitter and our Facebook page - the areas where we're struggling to serve at the moment.

    "Main road routes are fine, but there are some places on the minor roads which we're not serving currently."

    More than 150 schools in the county are closed and almost 90 others have opened late, after snow and ice have continued to affect Cornwall.

    There was particular concern about driving conditions across the county, with motorists being advised to delay the start of their journeys and to take extra care when they did head out.

    Cornwall Council opened its silver command centre in response to the bad weather on Sunday but it has now been stood down.

    Geoff Brown, Cornwall Council's cabinet member for transport, said they have had 25 gritters working around the clock, to try to keep the main routes around the county open.

    "As we predicted, the temperatures overnight were below zero and we've got freezing temperatures across the county," he said.

    A rescue centre which housed dozens of motorists overnight after the A30 was closed because of heavy snow has closed.

    A stranded couple spent their honeymoon night at the centre.

    Richard White, volunteer rest centre manager, said spirits were high among motorists despite their dramatic evening.

    The A30 between Exeter and Bodmin was closed for several hours after heavy snow battered the region.

    Motorists in Devon and Cornwall have been warned to expect ice on the roads tonight and tomorrow morning, external.

    The Met Office warning from 19:00 to 09:00 on Tuesday says: "Ice is likely to form on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths. This increases the risk of accidents, as well as injuries from slips and falls."

    A yellow warning means you should plan ahead thinking about possible travel delays, or the disruption of your day to day activities.
