    In Honiton, the A35 Axminster Road is blocked in both directions between Springfield Road and the High Street due to an earlier accident.

    Diversions are in place and surrounding roads are very busy.

    Seven cases of a rare dog disease called Alabama rot have been confirmed so far this year in Devon, Cornwall and South Somerset.

    Luna (pictured), from Hayle, Cornwall, died last month from the disease.

    It's thought pets could pick it up in stagnant water in wooded areas.

    The causes of the disease are not yet known but it is usually seen first as an unexplained skin sore, typically on the lower half of a limb, followed by sudden and rapid kidney failure.

    There have been more than 150 cases confirmed in the UK since 2012.

    A man who died after being struck by a van as he changed a tyre on his car on the A30 in Devon was from Somerset, police say, external.

    Emergency services were called to the scene at Alphington, near Exeter, at 12:25 on Monday after reports a grey Renault van hit the man on the eastbound carriageway.

    Ambulance and the air ambulance were called but the man, from Crewkerne and believed to be in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

    The road was closed for an investigation.

    A 32-year-old man from Exeter was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been released under investigation.

    Officers have appealed for witnesses.

    There's some very sad news for all the BBC Radio Cornwall family: Ray Shaddick - known as the Boy from Bude, has died at the age of 84 after a long illness, his family has confirmed.

    His distinctive tones were a fixture on the station for many years on the Sunday Choice request programme for about 15 years during the 1980s and 1990s.

    He got into broadcasting while working as an office manager at a car garage.

    He also chaired countless charity concerts throughout the county.

    Mental health experts in Cornwall say a new ward at Longreach House in Redruth will help reduce the number of people having to be sent out of county for treatment.

    Cornwall's mental health services have come under severe stress in recent years, with dozens of people having to travel hundreds of miles to get therapy.

    It was hoped the opening of a 15-bed "person-centred" rehabilitation ward in Redruth would help improve care, and provide it closer to home for many, managers said.

    Councillors have voted to put the brakes on plans to change the way the health care service in Devon is being run.

    Proposals by North Eastern and Western Devon Clinical Commissioning Group and Devon County Council would have seen an integrated health and care system implemented from April.

    It would see commissioners and NHS providers working closely with GP networks, local authorities and other partners, who agree to take shared responsibility for how they operate their collective resources for the benefit of local populations.

    Critics, including some councillors, have claimed there has not been enough public consultation, and the plans were a start of privatising services, and had less public accountability.

    Senior councillors said the changes were not being rushed through and it was about "putting clients and patients first before anything else".

    However, new recommendations are to go back to the council's cabinet for consideration.

    A postmaster from Devon says banks should financially compensate towns when they close branches.

    Stuart Rogers, who runs the post office in Ashburton, is in London to lobby MPs and members of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Post Offices.

    Ashburton has lost all of its banks and Mr Rogers wants Post Offices to be given more banking powers.

    He also says banks should not be able to close without helping the communities they are leaving.

    "Banks are creating revenue and profit from leaving towns and communities," he said. "I want them to put some of that revenue and profit they've created back into our communities."

    Crews were called to Greenway just after 22:30 on Monday and found the first floor flat full of smoke.

    It's believed the fire, which involved a chair, was accidental.

    Rural campaigners are lobbying Cornwall's MPs and councillors, calling for two hours in the daytime to be free in council-run car parks.

    The local authority says it depends on the £12m it raises from charges every year to maintain its 205 car parks and for the roads' budget.

    Two men have been rescued after being stuck in a lift in St Austell, external.

    The mother of one of them rang the fire brigade at about 21:30 on Monday saying her son was becoming distressed in the confined space.

    She told officers that a lift engineer would take two hours to get to the block of flats.

    Firefighters went to the building and freed both of them from the lift on the seventh floor.

    The Queen will be visiting Devonport Naval Base in Plymouth later for the decommissioning of HMS Ocean.

    Her Majesty last visited back in 2015 to mark Ocean's return to operational service.

    The Queen will receive a 21-gun salute and meet with the ship's crew and their families.

    HMS Ocean has completed 20 years of service, with deployments including operations off Sierra Leone, Libya and helping those affected by Hurricane Irma as well as providing security at the London 2012 Olympics.

    The flagship boasts a crew of up to 1,000, with facilities including shops, gyms, pubs and its own police force.
