Approximately one hour later [after an initial confrontation] it seems that the incident has flared again and another incident has occurred between the victim and a group of males outside the Crown and Anchor Pub on Brixham quayside. Residents of St Cleer in Cornwall have been recalling their shock at a large tree that fell in the village over the weekend, and how close it was to causing injuries.

The beech tree demolished the roof of the 200-year-old Open Doors Community Centre on Saturday evening.

Fortunately there were no casualties, but home owners in the village are concerned about the safety of the remaining trees.

Kay Shepherd, who lives in St Cleer, said it was a "horrendous scene".

    Quote Message

We could not believe it. Our first reaction was 'Is anybody hurt?' because it's on a main road into the village which is very busy. To think there were no pedestrians and no vehicles there at the time of the falling of the tree, and nobody was injured."
