An elderly woman has lost thousands of pounds to "heartless scammers" in a con being linked to several others in Dorset.
The victim, from Sherborne, withdrew a total of £4,000 and handed it to fake couriers in Lenthay Road on 7 and 8 December.
She had been called several times by bogus police officers who told her the serial numbers on the notes were fraudulent.
She could have lost more but the bank raised concerns and stopped one transaction, and also contacted genuine officers who spoke to her, Dorset Police said.
On 9 December, a man and a woman living in Bridport, lost £10,700 in two separate similar scams, while on Thursday a couple in their 70s lost £6,000.
Det Con Holly Spillman said: “This victim was repeatedly targeted by these heartless scammers, she lost a significant amount of money and it could have been even more.
“We would like to remind everyone that neither police officers or your bank will ask you to withdraw money to be collected. They will also not ask for your PIN number."
