    Almost 100 parcels have been stolen from a delivery vehicle.

    The courier parked on Compton Avenue in Poole on 4 December but left the keys in the ignition as she delivered a package, Dorset Police said.

    The car was stolen and found on Monday in Highview Gardens but the 96 parcels left inside had been taken.

    PC Jade Harper said: "I am aware there have been a number of similar thefts from delivery vans in the Dorset area recently, but this incident is not believed to be linked at this time."She urged witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

    Elderly residents have been duped into withdrawing thousands of pounds and handing it to people posing as couriers after receiving calls from bogus police officers.

    A woman in her 70s, from Bridport, Dorset, received a phone call from someone pretending to be a detective sergeant from Oxford police on Wednesday

    The caller told the victim a man had been caught with her bank card and urged her to go to the bank and withdraw £4,700. She later handed the cash to a man who collected it from her home in Happy Island Way.

    He was described as white, very tall and thin, aged in his early 20s and with dark, curly hair. He was wearing a high-visibility jacket, head torch and leggings.

    Also on Wednesday a man in his 80s, from Bridport, received a call from someone purporting to be a detective inspector from Bristol police. He was told his bank account had been scammed and to withdraw £6,000. He later handed the cash to a man at his home in Hillview.
