The 49-year-old man, who was due to board an outbound flight, was stopped by the officers on Tuesday, 1 August.
He was taken to a south London police station and and subsequently arrested on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts. He was initially released on police bail until late August.

There was a huge roar of support for Alex Dowsett as his set off on his time trial in the Tour of Britain in Clacton earlier.
Alex, of team Movistar, completed his lap in a time of 19'23", hitting the half way mark at 9'18".
He finished in ninth place - 21 seconds behind the winner Lars Boom.

We're about halfway through the Tour of Britain time trial in Clacton...
Mark Cavendish hit the halfway point, and was joint second fastest in a time of 10'04" at the split.
He finished his full lap in a time of 20'44" - the fourth fastest so far.

The Stage Five time trial of the Tour of Britain is due to begin at 12:01 in Clacton.
The riders will set off individually in the 15km route along Clacton seafront and out to Great Holland.
Racing is scheduled to last about two hours, with the final rider setting off at 14:04.

It's official... BBC Radio Suffolk's very own Luke Deal is a record-breaker.
You may remember, back in November, that Luke was challenged on-air to identify the most Abba songs from the lyrics, in one minute.
Luke was in it to win it, and win it he did.
The record-breaking attempt was overseen by Guinness World Records, external.
Luke, who grew up and still lives in Colchester, managed 15 correct answers in the time frame and he's made it into the latest edition, which is published today.
Luke says he's followed the group "all of his life" and is "over the moon".
Not everyone who gets a title makes it into the book - but Luke is listed on page 14.

A man has been charged with abduction after police received reports of someone trying to encourage girls into a car in the Monkwick area of Colchester.
The 38-year-old, from the town, is also accused of four offences of attempted abduction, kidnap and possessing a firearm.
He's been remanded in custody and is due back in court next month.

Thousands of people are expected in Clacton today as the town hosts Stage 5 of the Tour of Britain, external cycling event.
The 16km (10 mile) time trial begins at midday, and will start and finish on Marine Parade.
It's the first time that the men's road cycling event has come to the town. In 2014 and 2015 stages of the women's tour started in Harwich, and finished in Clacton.
Essex's Alex Dowsett will be hoping to do well in his home county - and we wish him well.
Roads along the route are closed from 10:30, for around four hours.
Team Sky's Elia Vivani leads the standings (pictured) after coming second in a tight finish in yesterday's fourth stage in the Midlands.
The stage was won by Colombia's Fernanda Gaviria, riding for the Quick Step Floors team.
Friday's stage starts in Newmarket and finishes on the Suffolk coast in Aldeburgh.
People in Laindon are being told to keep their windows and doors closed after a fire at an industrial unit.
Crews were called to Durham Road at around 01:00.
They say the building was completely alight, and had collapsed by the time they arrived.
At the height of the blaze, nine crews were dealing with the flames.
The fire is now out, but there's a lot of smoke and firefighters remain at the scene.
Officers are investigating what caused it.
