    A new cafe in Gosport has been opened to help veterans integrate more with their community.

    It is run by the charity - First Light Trust - which aims to support former servicemen and women who have suffered either mentally or physically from being in the military, by creating a place where people in similar situations can meet.

    The charity are hoping to create 30 hubs throughout the UK.

    West Midlands Ambulance Service has confirmed a lorry driver died in this morning's crash on the M40.

    The accident happened on the border of Oxfordshire and Warwickshire between junctions 11 and 12.

    An ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Sadly nothing could be done to save the driver of one lorry, a man, and he was confirmed dead on scene.

    “A second lorry driver, a man in his 50s, was out of his vehicle upon emergency services arrival and, upon assessment by ambulance staff was found to have sustained minor arm injuries and neck pain.

    "He was given treatment by ambulance staff before being discharged on scene.

    “A third patient with minor injuries was treated by our South Central colleagues.”

    A man from Gosport who fraudulently sold plots of land will be sentenced today.

    Barry Leigh conned his victims out of £600,000 after they believed they were buying legitimate land through his company Dream Coastal and Country Homes.

    Mr Leigh has pleaded guilty to six out of 14 charges.

    • In Windsor there are long delays on the A308 between Windsor and Egham, with temporary lights in Old Windsor. It is causing delays back into Windsor and on approaches.
    • The M40 is closed northbound at J11 (Banbury) to J12 (Gaydon) due to a serious accident. Long delays, follow Black Circle diversion route.

  9. 'Horrific' accident closes M40 in Oxfordshirepublished at 08:13 British Summer Time 23 May 2017

    The M40 northbound in Oxfordshire is closed between junction 11 near Banbury and junction 12 near Gaydon after a serious collision.

    There are reports a lorry was involved and one user on Twitter described the accident as "horrific".

    The Highways Agency says the road is expected to remain closed until late morning and a diversion route is in place.

    Some motorists were trapped overnight inside the road closure, but most have now been released.

    Delays of 15 minutes are also being reported on the opposite carriageway heading southbound.

    A power cut has left parts of north-east coast of the Isle of Wight without electricity.

    The power cut affecting properties in the PO33 postcode area - which includes Ryde and Wootton Bridge - went off shortly after 07:30 BST.

    Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) said its engineers were working to establish the cause of the fault and hoped to restore power shortly after 09:30.
