David Oliver, 51 of Coombe Gardens in Bournemouth, was convicted of six counts of indecent assault. He was working as a leader at Butchers Coppice Scout Camp in the town at the time of the offences which took place in the late 1990s.
Police said Oliver would take advantage of his victim, who was under the age of 16, by kissing her and sexually assaulting her on a number of occasions.

The last remaining member of a special branch of the Home Guard in Dorset, has unexpectedly been presented with a World War Two defence medal.
Mr Northover said this was the first medal to mark their contribution.
Jack Northover was one of eight men who made up the Wrackleford Auxiliary Unit - part of a network of highly trained volunteers expected to form a last line of defence if Nazis occupied Britain.
The 90-year-old and relatives of three other members - have received the medal just before the unveiling in Stratton Village of a memorial to remember the unit.

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of attempting to murder a third man, after all three were in a car which crashed on Wide Lane between Southampton and Eastleigh.
Police said a 23-year-old man was in hospital with "critical, life-changing head injuries", following the incident at about 22:00 BST on Thursday night.

A man has appeared in court in connection with a fire on the roof of a building within HMP Guys Marsh near Shaftesbury.
Nigel John Saunders, 29, was charged with arson with intent to endanger life.
Emergency services were called to an incident at the prison on 10 March. All prisoners and staff were accounted for and a total of 64 prisoners were evacuated from the affected area of the prison by prison staff.
Mr Saunders appeared before Weymouth Magistrates Court today and was remanded in custody to appear at Bournemouth Crown Court on 22 June.
The kitchen at a children’s nursery school in Oxfordshire was closed by food hygiene inspectors last week after they found a dead mouse on the floor, it has emerged.

The inspectors also discovered rodent faeces on work surfaces, the kitchen floor and in cupboards.
They also noted a lack of routine cleaning and disinfection to minimise the risk of food contamination.
The council said the business "co-operated fully" with the council to address the issues raised during the inspection and during a follow-up inspection on Friday the council was satisfied it no longer posed "an imminent risk to health" and lifted the prohibition notice.

The maker of Isle of Wight's troubled new floating bridge has insisted it will be a "success", despite its continued suspension.
Cars scraped their bumpers while disembarking and stranded passengers waded through water when it broke down on its first weekend in operation.
It remains suspended on the orders of the Maritime Coastguard Agency (MCA).
Mainstay Marine said its staff were working on an "enhanced" training programme for the crew.

A group of Oxfordshire friends has had to raise £5,000 to bring their seriously injured friend home from Croatia after his insurance refused to pay when he was hurt during a stag party.

A pedestrian has died in a road crash in east Devon, police say.
Officers said, external the 29-year-old man from Lyme Regis suffered fatal injuries when he was hit by a green BMW 323 car on the A3052, near Ware Cross in Uplyme, at about 02:23 on Sunday. The man died at the scene.
The driver, a 42-year-old man from Axminster, was not injured. The road was closed for nine hours for an investigation.
Police said they are "particularly keen" to trace the driver of a small van believed to have been in the area at the time.
