  5. Cowes 'floating bridge': Troubled chain ferry remains suspendedpublished at 07:59 British Summer Time 22 May 2017

    A week on from its suspension on the orders of the Maritime Coastguard Agency (MCA), the new "floating bridge" service at Cowes is still out of action, external.

    The chain ferry broke down on Sunday 14 May.

    Passengers left stranded on the craft were forced to wade through water to the slipway.

    Cars also struggled to embark and disembark without scraping their bumpers.

    Isle of wight Council said it was working with the MCA to resolve issues.
