    Two military transport planes came within 1,700ft (520m) of colliding near an RAF base, a report has said.

    The near miss involving two Airbus A400s in March happened when an air traffic controller instructed the wrong aircraft to descend.

    The controller at RAF Brize Norton had not received a handover from the radar controller, due to "a very high workload", the report found.

    It said this was "a contributing factor" to the near miss.

  5. Couple sought after 'sexual activity' on trainpublished at 12:36 British Summer Time 25 July 2017

    CCTV images have been released of a man and woman who police want to speak to in connection with an "incident of outraging public decency".

    Detectives said a couple engaged in "explicit sexual activity" while travelling between Reading West and Newbury.

    British Transport Police said the incident happened on the 15:14 BST train on Wednesday 28 June.

  6. Guy Hedger death: Forty-year-old woman from Poole re-arrestedpublished at 12:13 British Summer Time 25 July 2017

    A woman has been re-arrested as part of the investigation into the death of a businessman who was shot at his home in Dorset.

    Guy Hedger, 61, was killed in the early hours of 30 April in Ashley, near Ringwood.

    Dorset Police said a 40-year-old woman from Poole has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and handling stolen goods.

    She had been previously arrested in May on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary and had been released while inquiries continue.

    Three men have been charged with murder and are due in court on Wednesday to enter pleas.

    The linkspan - a drawbridge ramp - to get the vehicles on and off the ferry isn't working properly.

    Visitors are flocking to the annual New Forest and Hampshire County Show near Brockenhurst.

    The event at New Park runs until Thursday.

    Motorists using the A337 and those heading to the show are being advised to allow plenty of time for their journey.

    A shuttle bus is also running between Brockenhurst Station direct to the heart of the show .

  11. Honour violence reports rise in Thames Valleypublished at 10:57 British Summer Time 25 July 2017

    Honour based abuse cases, including forced marriage, rape and false imprisonment, have increased in the Thames Valley.

    Figures for 2016 show a 113 incidents were reported to police in the last year, up from 69 in 2015.

    The police figures show more than half of the reported honour abuse was linked to physical assault.

    "What we are looking at is a form of control, not just from an individual, but from a whole family or community", says Rani Bilku, who's the founder of the Slough based womens rights charity Jeena International.

    "The victims may not realise that they are part of honour-based violence, because it is what they are used to".

    The figures obtained by BBC Radio Berkshire also reveal that at least 13 percent of the victims in these cases were male.

    Over a hundred high rise buildings in Hampshire still haven't been inspected following the Grenfell Tower fire.

    Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service say there are 237 buildings on the inspection list - and over 130 have already been checked.

    Seven buildings - six in Portsmouth and one in Southampton - have so far been identified publicly as having the same type of cladding as Grenfell.

    "We're very keen to make sure that the people of Hampshire are safe", says Community Safety Group Manager, Glenn Bowyer, from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service.

    "We'll work as hard as we can to ensure that another incident like Grenfell does not happen here".

    A man has been filmed shouting at a family that he wants them "dead" in an apparent act of road rage.

    Louise Small, 33, said she was threatened by former BBC producer Fergus Beeley in a Sainsbury's car park off the M27 near Southampton on Saturday.

    Her 50-year-old mother, 14-year-old son Joshua and partner Simon Gale, 33 were also in the car.

    It followed a two-car crash involving the family's Mazda at about 11:30 BST. Police said no arrests had been made.

    Mr Beeley has not responded to requests for comment.

    A wolf has been shot dead after it escaped from Cotswold Wildlife Park in Oxfordshire.

    Visitors to the park were told to stay indoors when the female animal, named Ember, was discovered outside the perimeter fence at 11:00 BST on Friday.

    The park's managing director said staff tried to tranquilise the three-year-old Eurasian wolf, but it was out of range.

    Earlier this year Ember gave birth to five cubs, the first wolves to be born at the park in its 47-year history.

    Oxford City Council said abandoned bags could block fire exits and posed a hazard to pedestrians.

    Homeless people who store possessions in doorways in Oxford have been warned they face fines or prosecution.

    Notices have been attached to piles of bags in Oxford city centre which belong to homeless people.

    Green Party councillor David Thomas said it was an "outrageous" bid to "intimidate" rough sleepers.

    Oxford City Council said the abandoned bags pose a hazard by blocking fire exits, and lockers were available to those who sought help.
