  1. Motorbike and tank collide on A352 near Warehampublished at 13:52 British Summer Time 15 October 2018

    A motorbike and a Warrior tank have collided on the A352 near Wareham in Dorset.

    The motorcyclist was been taken to hospital in Poole following the crash shortly before 11:30. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

    The road is closed while recovery of the vehicles takes place.

    A woman who survived a skydive wearing a parachute which had been sabotaged by her husband, has jumped again.

    Victoria Cilliers suffered near-fatal injuries when both her main and reserve parachutes failed during a 4,000ft jump at Netheravon, Wiltshire, on Easter Sunday in 2015.

    The highly experienced parachute instructor took the two-mile plunge on 7 October at an airfield in Oxfordshire, raising money for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

    Speaking afterwards she said: "When I landed I felt an incredible sense of relief and release.

    "Although I had made a fantastic physical recovery, in psychological terms my head was lagging behind.

    "Jumping was an integral part of fixing that."

    Her husband, ex-Army sergeant Emile Cilliers, was given a life sentence with a minimum term of 18 years after being convicted at a retrial of two attempted murder charges and a third count of damaging a gas fitting recklessly endangering life.

    CCTV of a man has been released by police investigating a race hate incident in Weymouth.

    The man used abusive and offensive language after entering McColl’s on East Street in Chickerell on 16 August, causing a staff member to leave.

    The man has not yet been identified and police have appealed for anyone who recognises him to get in touch.

    Police are giving leaflets to people at risk of committing child sexual exploitation crimes, asking for their behaviour to stop, the BBC has found.

    The "C5 notices" - used by Hampshire Constabulary when there is not enough evidence to charge - explain the law to recipients.

    They can appear in an enhanced DBS check, which critics say risks penalising innocent people.

    The Hampshire force has is used the leaflets 54 times since their introduction in November 2016. It denied the scheme was a cost-cutting measure, and said a warning notice would only be disclosed during a DBS check if it was relevant to the request.

    A delegation of top Chinese government officials and business leaders will visit Oxford this week to promote travel to the eastern province of Anhui.

    Members of the group will demonstrate Chinese culture with an opera and tea-art performance at Oxford college Lady Margaret Hall.

    The region is famous for its mountains and is home to several Unesco World Heritage sites.

    Around 100 new homes and a purpose-built school, costing nearly £10m, could be in the pipeline for Poole.

    The plans, being discussed by Borough of Poole Council, include a new school, pre-school facilities and a housing development on the current site of Hillbourne Primary School.

    The council says the current school buildings are no longer fit for purpose and would require significant investment to bring them back up to standard.

    If the proposals are approved, work on the new school is expected to start next September and is likely to take around a year. The new homes would be built in stages once the school is complete.

    Thousands of people are expected to visit Sherborne's annual Pack Monday Fair today, which dates back to medieval times and is held on the first Monday after Old Michaelmas Day.

    The street market is a major event in the town when four of the its main streets are filled with hundreds of street traders and food stalls all day and night.

    The celebrations officially began at midnight on Sunday with a procession through the town by "Teddy Roe's Band", a group of locals making as much noise as possible by blowing horns and whistles, and banging pots and pans.

    The events date from 1490 when repair work to Sherborne Abbey was completed, overseen by foreman Teddy Roe, after it was damaged by fire.

    A revolutionary method of landing an F-35 Lightning Fighter Jet has been carried out for the first time on board the UK's new Portsmouth based carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth.

    British test pilot Peter Wilson made history when he conducted the shipborne rolling vertical landing this weekend.

    The manoeuvre will allow jets to land on board with heavier loads.
