A new class 802 Hitachi train, on test, ripped into the overhead wires at Hanwell in west London.
It has torn down 500m of power cables.
It would be a surprise if Network Rail can get that repaired in less than a day, and it might well be longer.
The train, running overnight, was driven by GB Railfreight, which provides test drivers. It will eventually be handed to Great Western but is not theirs at present.
