  2. Concrete to be poured into A38 'void'published at 14:08 British Summer Time 27 May 2016

    Concrete is to be poured into the hole that opened up in the A38 in Kempsey, Worcestershire County Council says.

    It happened during routine work by Severn Trent workers.

    The local authority said there the road would remain open.

  3. 'Suddenly everything caved in' - Severn Trentpublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 27 May 2016

    A large hole has opened up in the A38 at Kempsey, just outside Worcester, while Severn Trent were carrying out some "planned work".

    Their team was digging outside The Anchor pub when "suddenly everything caved in" to reveal a much bigger existing hole, a spokesman said.

    Severn Trent have had to abandon their planned work while engineers from the county council deal with the void.

    Worcestershire County Council says it is now not planning to close the road.

    Pedal Heaven recorded their first ever Pearl Izumi Tour Series team win as they pipped Madison Genesis to victory in Redditch last night.

    In the individual competition, the former Hereford-based NFTO rider Jon Mould was first across the line for JLT Condor to claim his seventh Tour Series victory - now just one behind the all-time record of Ed Clancy.

  6. Travel: Major Worcestershire road to close after 'void' foundpublished at 13:01 British Summer Time 27 May 2016

    The A38 in Kempsey, just outside Worcester, is to be closed after "a void" was found under the road by The Anchor pub, the county council says.

    It was discovered while Severn Trent were carrying out work in the area.

    A school minibus driver has relived the moment he reversed off a bridge in Tenbury Wells just moments before it collapsed. 

    Derek Trow, who was driving one of two minibuses full of children, said watching Eastham bridge fall into the River Teme was "shocking".

    A man has been taken to Hereford County Hospital "suffering from the effects of cold" after he was rescued from the river in Hereford, the ambulance service says.

    West Midlands Ambulance Service say they were called to the rowing club in Hereford at 09:45 by the police to treat the man who'd been rescued by a fire service boat crew.

    The council says it is "aware" that lorries were in the area of a collapsed bridge in Worcestershire, but that it would be "wrong to speculate" about what caused it to fall into the river.

    A Redditch councillor says the failure to ask the public their views on permanently moving maternity services from the town's Alexandra Hospital to the Worcestershire Royal is almost worse than the decision itself.

    Doctors in the north of Worcestershire have rejected plans to reopen maternity services at the hospital because they don't think the demand will justify the £1m running cost.

    A tortoise in Herefordshire is back on the move after being fitted with a built-in disability aid made of Lego. 

    Jack, from Ledbury, has had a wheel attached to his shell after he lost a hind leg in a strimming accident.

    Ellie Robbins, from Leadon Vale Veterinary Centre, says they removed the injured leg and glued on a wheel instead.
