    A former flood victim from Worcestershire is warning of the dangers of cowboy builders and salesman, external trying to sell flood protection equipment. 

    Mary Dhonau, who was recently given an OBE for her campaigning for flood protection, has published a free new guide, external on how people can protect their homes from flood water.

  4. Worcester children make their mark on new swimming poolpublished at 14:25 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2016

    Children across Worcester are helping to design a giant piece of artwork for the city's new swimming pool at Perdiswell.  

    Pupils from Perdiswell Primary School, Tudor Grange Primary School, Heart of Worcestershire College and RGS Worcester have all taken part in workshops to create the eight-metre-high piece.   

    About 100 children, aged from eight to 18, have been working with Eric Klein Velderman of the Cantoo design agency to produce colourful images for the building’s frontage - expected to represent a modern version of stained glass windows.

    A woman killed in a car crash outside a garden centre in Kidderminster died accidentally, a coroner has ruled.

    Naomi Twaite, 83, died when she pulled out at Hodge Hill Nursery on the A456 and collided with another car in June.

    An Evesham woman who's discovered her father was a World War II spy says she's incredibly proud of the work he did. 

    Rosalie Daubney knew that Major Basil Dykes had served in the 7th Worcestershire Territorial Regiment at Dunkirk, but she's since found out he went on to work for MI5.

    He returned to work as a solicitor in Ledbury, but never gave away any secrets about his spy work to his family. 

    Rosalie was reading about British agents in France shortly after the country's liberation, when she saw her father's name linked to a sting operation.

  11. Rugby player dies on pitchpublished at 12:08 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2016

    A rugby player has died, external while playing in a match in Redditch. 

    Chris Partridge, 58, suffered a suspected heart attack two minutes into yesterday's game between Woodrush and Redditch.

    It was organised to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Woodrush's first-ever match, which was also against the same opponents. 

    In a statement on its website, Woodrush said Mr Partridge was given support by first aiders and ambulance crews. 

    Mr Partridge leaves a partner, Jackie, who was watching the match and three children.

    Former referee Chris Guy paid tribute in a Facebook post published by the North Midlands RFU, external, describing Mr Partridge as someone who "never lost the love of the game".

    An elderly war veteran has made an emotional appeal for his stolen medals to be returned in time for Remembrance Day. 

    John Roberts, 91, known to his friends as Jack, had six medals taken from his home in Worcestershire on Wednesday.

  13. Man arrested on suspicion of death threatspublished at 11:40 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2016

    A man from Kidderminster has been arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill and commit criminal damage, external.

    Police were searching for the man in the town on Saturday morning, when they found him in a tree in OIympian Court. 

    Officers worked with paramedics and the first service for several hours to get him down safely.

    The man, who's 31, has been bailed until the beginning of November while investigations continue.

    An International animal charity has thanked shoppers in Worcestershire for their generosity after they donated £2,600 in street collections this year. 

    Animals Asia was set up to save bears and other animals from cruelty in China and Vietnam.

    It raised £388.35 during its latest collection in Kidderminster on Saturday.

    Burial space in Redditch is running so low, there may be no more room for graves by 2019. 

    The borough council is trying to solve the problem by carrying out tests on a possible site in the town today and tomorrow. 

    Councils are not obliged to provide cemeteries, but most see them as important resources for the community.

  18. Wye Valley Trust Chief Executive to step downpublished at 10:21 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2016

    The head of Wye Valley NHS Trust is expected to step down soon, with plans in place for health bosses from south Warwickshire to take on his role and two other senior posts.

    Richard Beeken insists he's still in charge for the time being.

    The BBC has also learned that Wye Valley's Chairman Museji Takolia filed for bankruptcy during the summer, shortly before unexpectedly standing down.

    The process for the south Warwickshire trust's involvement in Herefordshire has attracted criticism from the local MP, Jesse Norman, among others.

    In National League North, Kidderminster Harriers ran out 0-1 winners at Stockport County, while Worcester City hammered Altrincham 3-0 at the Victoria Ground. 

    In the FA Trophy, Redditch United are through after a 3-1 win over Cambridge City, but Evesham United face a replay at Frome Town after a 1-1 draw at Jubilee Stadium.
