  2. Roger Curry: Petition and crowdfunding campaign gather supportpublished at 14:23 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February 2017

    A petition to bring a man found wandering around Hereford back to this country is gathering support and a crowdfunding page has been started to raise money for him.

    Roger Curry was found in the city in November 2015 - he wasn't able to reveal his identity because he had dementia. He was looked after by Herefordshire Council before being returned to the USA.

    A BBC Panaroma investigation tracked down Mr Curry's family, and also found he was now living in a nursing home "dishevelled - unwashed and thinner".

    A petition to bring him back to this county, external had attracted more than 850 signatures by Friday.

    Renna Mubarak, a member of whose family had Alzheimer's, has set up a Go Fund Me page to raise money to help with Mr Curry's care, which has so far raised £555 of its £10,000 target.

  4. Britain will get Bexit deal by 2019 says MPpublished at 13:27 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February 2017

    The MP for Worcester and Brexit minister Robin Walker believes Britain will have a deal with Europe by the time it leaves the EU. 

    The government has published a white paper setting out the aims for Brexit after MPs overwhelmingly voted to begin the process.

    Mr Walker says as well as Britain, Europe will also be determined to finalise a deal by March 2019.

    The number of recorded sex offences committed by children on other children has doubled in the West Mercia area, a charity has learned.

    A freedom of information request by Barnardo's, external shows the number of offences rose by 128% in three years across the whole force area

  9. Munitions workers tribute: More on the 'canary girls'published at 11:44 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February 2017

    A tree on the former munitions factory site at Rotherwas has been decorated with yellow cloth - possibly as tribute to the people who worked there during two World Wars.

    The ribbons have appeared since BBC Hereford & Worcester launched its campaign to get national recognition for muntions workers.

    Women who worked in the factories in WW1 had their skin died yellow by the chemicals they used, and were known as "canary girls".

    One of Hereford's biggest employers has promised to invest £2.5m in its Hereford site after a local brook was polluted.

    A contractor working on the Bulmers site poured water into a drain which was polluted with ammonia - it fed into the Yazor Brook and killed between 2,000 and 3,000 minnows and juvenile fish.

    Heineken, which runs the site, has also given £160,000 to two local environmental groups.

    I've been to the former munitions factory at Rotherwas in Hereford where a tree has been decorated with strips of yellow cloth.

    It's happened since we launched our campaign to get national recognition for the men and women who worked at sites like Rotherwas and Blackpole.

    The women who worked there had their skin died yellow by the chemicals they used, and were known as "canary girls".
