    A body found in the River Severn near Worcester is yet to be identified, police say.

    The emergency services began searching the River Severn yesterday afternoon after a member of the public reported seeing a body going over the weir at Holt Heath (pictured).

    The call was made at about 15:40 and emergency services say they made the discovery at around 17:00. 

    West Mercia Police say the body is believed to be that of a man.

    Worcester Warriors’ new director of rugby, Gary Gold, says he’s under "no illusions" when it comes to the scale of the task facing him at Sixways. 

    Gold joined the Aviva Premiership strugglers last week and says he’s still getting to grips with his new surroundings and squad. 

    But he says he’s confident Warriors have the talent within the squad to get out of trouble at the foot of the table.

    We're just hearing emergency services are on the scene after a member of the public reported seeing a body in the river near Holt Heath.  

    The police say they received a call at 15:40 today and are currently searching the River Severn. 

    A body has not yet been found.

    Worcester Warriors' prop forward, Derrick Appiah, has joined Edinburgh Rugby on a short-term loan deal.

    The 22-year-old has made five appearances for Warriors, with four of those coming this season, including his maiden try in Russia against Enisei-STM in the European Challenge Cup.

  13. Girl complains to manufacturer after being 'short changed' on chocolatepublished at 16:08 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2017

    A 10-year-old girl from Redditch has written a letter to Cadbury after finding the pack of chocolate fingers she had in her lunch box only had one finger in it.

    Her mother, Layla, says Macy took action because the fingers were meant to be part of her treat allowance for the week and when she had none, she took up her mother's suggestion to write a letter which "melted Layla's heart".

    A spokesman for Burtons Biscuits, who make Cadbury Fingers, says they will be offering Macy some of the chocolates to help make up for her missing out.

    A new shuttle bus connecting two Worcestershire hospitals has made its maiden journey between Worcester and Redditch.

    The hospital hopper is free and will ferry patients, visitors and staff between the Alexandra and Worcestershire Royal hospitals.

    The shuttle leaves each site hourly, on the half hour, from 07:30 until 10:30 and then between 13:30 and 16:00 every weekday.

    Karen Lumley, MP for Redditch, who was at a public meeting where the service was proposed, said: “This is a pilot scheme and the Acute Trust will monitor demand over the next few weeks."

    The pilot service will run until Friday, 21 April, with no service on Good Friday and Easter Monday.

    Three men from Worcester who were arrested on suspicion of the rape of a teenage girl have been bailed until the 22 March. 

    The incident is alleged to have happened in the car park of Worcestershire County Council's headquarters in December.

    Two 18-year-old men and a 27-year-old man, all from Worcester, were arrested on suspicion of rape, arranging and facilitating the sexual exploitation of a child and conspiracy to supply class B drugs.
