  1. People encouraged not to donate to homelesspublished at 12:31 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March 2017

People are being asked to consider if they are really helping homeless people by giving them cash, refreshments and clothes in a "hard-hitting" campaign by a council.

Redditch Borough Council says it is putting up posters around the town and on social media after the appearance of a makeshift camp in the borough.

    Quote Message

We want to offer long-term solutions for these people and unfortunately, acts of kindness from the public are not tackling the underlying issues. These posters may seem hard-hitting but we have to break this cycle."

  5. Watch: Mystery of yellow ribbons munitions girls tribute solved published at 10:36 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March 2017

    Nicola Goodwin
    Reporter, BBC Hereford & Worcester

We've been searching for the mystery artists who created their own tribute to the Rotherwas "canary girls" in the middle of a farmer's field.

A tree decorated with yellow dusters appeared just after we'd launched our campaign to get national recognition for the men and women who worked in munitions factories like Rotherwas, in Hereford, and Blackpole, in Worcester.

The women who worked there during WW1 had their skin died yellow by the chemicals they used, and were nicknamed "canary girls".

After much searching I've tracked down the artists.

Paul Platten, 38 , who sent naked pictures of himself to a vigilante posing as a 13-year-old girl,

    -   Andrew Sealey, 39 , who was caught in a sting operation in a theme park after telling one fake teenager: "It's OK you being a virgin and 15, I don't mind."

A Hereford man who has set up a group who hunt paedophiles says he is not trying to "do the police's work".

He also carries out "stings", where he has arranged to meet the alleged paedophiles in person, before calling the police with his evidence.

West Mercia Police say they "do not encourage members of the public to pursue their own investigations". The force says it can "compromise ongoing police investigations".

    Quote Message

I'm not trying to do the police's work, but I think they do need people like us. People just see me doing the 'sting' but I literally study the law. I have studied... other paedophile hunting groups, what they do, what you can't say. Believe it or not I do do the research behind it all."

A Hereford man has told me he set up a group hunting paedophiles because the police are "too stretched to cope".

David John Poole formed an organisation he calls "H Division" about four weeks ago - he poses as a 14-year-old girl online. He's since been sent hundreds of suggestive messages and explicit pictures.

He's also performed several "sting" operations, where he meets the alleged paedophiles in person, before calling the police with his evidence.

West Mercia Police say identifying alleged paedophiles is best left to them as they can ensure vulnerable victims are protected.
