    It will be a clear and settled start to the evening. It will feel cool under clear skies, allowing areas of fog to develop through the early hours. However, it should remain dry for most - lows of 4C (39F).

    Tomorrow will be much cloudier, with outbreaks of light rain expected through the afternoon.

  2. Football club goes back to school to help its playerspublished at 17:14 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2017

    Kidderminster Harriers and Baxter College have teamed up to encourage players to continue their education as they train at the club.

    The partnership will be managed by the school’s head of PE, Dave Garbett, a former Walsall FC coach.

  3. Final phase of town centre improvements to be completed by the autumn published at 16:52 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2017

    The final stage of work to improve the centre of Tenbury Wells will be completed by the autumn, the council has announced.

    The work will involve improvements to the paths and the installation of new street furniture on Teme Street.

    The first phase of work, between Crow Corner and the end of Market Square, was completed in spring 2015. 

    The second phase of the refurbishment is currently being completed by contractors working on behalf of Tesco, who are opening a new store in the town in April, the council says.

    A new partnership between Kidderminster Harriers and a secondary school will mean members of its academy can now take up to three A-levels. 

    There will be 40 places available at Baxter College in the town from September.

    There will also be opportunities for some players to progress to Harriers' higher education degree course which is set to kick off next autumn.

  5. Man in hospital after van overturns outside Bromyardpublished at 15:50 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2017

    A man has been taken to hospital after his van overturned on the Worcester Road just outside Bromyard this morning. 

    Paramedics were called to the road just before 06:20. 

    He was taken to Hereford County Hospital with leg and back injuries.

  6. Rubery village to be spruced up thanks to £100k fundingpublished at 15:05 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2017

    Lights, bus shelters, benches, bollards and other features of Rubery village will undergo improvements after a £100,000 funding package was agreed.

    The largest chunk of the money, £75,000, has come from Bromsgrove District Council, while Worcestershire County Council has put in £25,000.

    Part of the plan is to include a so-called "quality charter" for future works and to ensure the improved features are maintained.

    The mother of a Worcestershire schoolboy who took is own life says a book of poems being published in his memory is a wonderful tribute to her son. 

    Seventeen-year-old Felix Alexander died last year after years of being bullied online

    Felix's mum Lucy - who's been campaigning against bullying in schools - says she hopes other people find the book inspiring.

  8. International investment could bring more jobs to Worcestershire published at 14:30 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2017

    The government says thousands of jobs could be created in Worcestershire by international investors as part of the its new Midlands Engine plan .

    It has highlighted 19 projects across the region which it thinks have the opportunity for investment from abroad. 

    They include the Worcester Technology Park and Redditch Eastern Gateway.

    The county council says a first phase of drainage and surfacing works on the A4440 has been completed. 

    The authority says the next will take place overnight for three days from 24 March between 18:00 and 09:00 each night.

  11. Thousands of identity fraud victims in West Midlandspublished at 13:06 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2017

    Identity fraud in the West Midlands is at record levels, according to a national campaign group. 

    The Credit Industry Fraud Avoidance Service (Cifas) says there were nearly 11,500 cases in the region last year with most of it happening online.

    Nationally there were almost 173,000 recorded frauds in 2016 , 3,000 more than in 2015.

    Cifas says people must be more vigilant about protecting their personal data.

    A defibrillator in Redditch town centre is now available 24 hours a day, the council says.

    The life-saving machine was previously kept behind the counter at of Redditch Borough Council’s offices in Walter Stranz Square.

    The defibrillator is now kept in a secure cabinet outside the offices, and is available to use at all times by dialling 999 and quoting the code on the door.

  15. Unemployment up 9,000 in West Midlands in latest figurespublished at 11:06 Greenwich Mean Time 15 March 2017

    Unemployment in the West Midlands rose by 9,000 to 160,000 in the three months, external to January, official figures show. 

    They show the region saw the joint-largest jobless increase compared with the rest of the country - five other areas also saw rises.

    It means the current unemployment rate in the West Midlands is 5.6%, the Office for National Statistics said.

    That compares with the UK unemployment rate falling to 4.7%, its lowest rate in 41 years in the three months to January.

    The Environment Agency says its enforcement teams will rigorously police a ban on coarse fishing that comes into force from today. 

    The three-month break gives shoals of fish such as barbel and chub and chance to breed, for numbers to replenish.
