What we want to do is to make sure there is someone going to see him each day this week. It's just so important to make sure he is being looked after because it must get really dull if you are just sitting in bed and a you can't move and you're not even sure what is going on around you."

  10. Moving historic houses in Worcester and Herefordpublished at 17:55 British Summer Time 12 April 2017

A historic house in Worcester that once played host to "Good Queen Bess" has been given a £15,000 facelift by the city council.

The Queen Elizabeth House, dating beck to the 1570s, was moved to one side of Trinity Street to the other in 1890 to save it from a road widening scheme.

Incredibly it's not the only historic building to have been moved lock stock and barrel from one place to another.

In 1965, a 17th Century black and white building in Hereford's High Town was moved on rollers to allow a new shop to be built. British Pathe have a film of the whole operation, external.

The house had once been part of Marchants Grocers, and had to be moved to make way for a new £300,000 store.

The city council insisted that the 17th Century timber-framed building was incorporated into the front of the new store.

This meant that the whole structure had to be moved to allow the building work to be carried out, and then moved back again.

It can still be seen today.
