Wyre Forest MP Mark Garnier has spoken with bosses at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust (WAHT) after it was rated as inadequate by government inspectors.

He met with chief executive Michelle McKay following the the Care Quality Commission report.

The trust, which runs Worcestershire Royal Hospital, Kidderminster Hospital and Treatment Centre and Redditch's Alexandra Hospital is already in special measures and must remain so for at least a further three to six months.

Mr Garnier said: "I have raised my concerns about the WAHT before and these concerns have, sadly, been confirmed by this report.

"What is of great alarm to me is the fact that Kidderminster Hospital has slipped in standards. It was the case that Kidderminster was seen as more efficient when compared to the county’s other two acute hospitals."

The trust says it accepts the findings and that a new leadership team is "determined to put things right".
