    More details have emerged about a £70m bid to dual Worcester's Carrington Bridge.

    Worcestershire County Council says it aims to submit a planning application over the scheme within the next four months.

    If the bid for funding is successful, two new lanes will be built for drivers heading west towards Malvern, with the existing structure staying open while the work is done.

    The council has launched a public consultation over it, and is expecting an answer from the government in July.

    Plans for a new, permanent home for Worcester City Football Club go before councillors today.

    They're expected to give the go-ahead to a new stadium that could see the team finally return to the city.

  3. Pair sentenced for child prostitutionpublished at 11:13 British Summer Time 22 June 2017

    Two people from Malvern have been jailed after being convicted of child prostitution offences.

    Neil Bozward, 45, was sentenced to a total of 23 years in prison after being found guilty of inciting child prostitution, aiding and abetting rape and two counts of supplying Class A drugs.

    At the same hearing on Tuesday at Stafford Crown Court Hayley Rowberry, 36, from Willes Road, Handworth, was jailed for five years for controlling prostitution.

    Det Insp Stuart Murphy from Mercia Police said the investigation into the "tragic" case of child prostitution by the team in Worcester was "painstaking", and offered "sincere thanks" to the victim for coming forward.

    Worcester Warriors' Ben Te'o has been named to start in the centre for the British and Irish Lions' first test against New Zealand in Auckland.

    A year on after the vote to leave the EU, fruit and vegetable growers in the county say they're concerned they'll face losses this summer because of a shortage of seasonal workers.

    Around 80,000 pickers are needed in the UK annually - the majority come from Bulgaria and Romania, but numbers are dwindling.

    Growers say Brexit and the falling pound are the main factors.

    Worcestershire fruit grower, and Chair of the National Farmers Union Horticulture and Potatoes Board, Ali Capper (pictured), said the "confusion" that Brexit has caused, makes the UK a less attractive place for workers to come.

    • Dispose of your waste food carefully and responsibly, when you're at home or out and about

    • Ensure waste food is wrapped up before putting it in a litter bin or your home wheely bin

    • Don't leave waste food hanging out of a bin

    • Never drop your waste food on the floor

    • Don't overfill your bin so the lid can't close properly

    • Don't feed birds in parks, open spaces or on the street

    The site of a former derelict pub in Worcester has been transformed into supported living quarters for people with mental health problems.

    Housing association Bromford says it has spent £1.7m revamping the old Cavalier Tavern site, which was demolished in May last year after falling into disrepair. , external

    The new development has 13 one-bedroom apartments as well as a communal area, an office and car parking.

    The association says tenants living there will get employment advice and training to help them find work.

    The detective heading up the investigation into the murder of a Hereford father two years ago says he's determined to catch the killer.

    Christian Bagley, 30, was stabbed twice in June 2015 as he returned from seeing his young daughter.

    Last December, police said four people arrested in connection with his death would face no further action.

    They've made a fresh appeal for help, external on the second anniversary of the killing.

  14. Two hurt in Kidderminster crashpublished at 17:47 British Summer Time 21 June 2017

    Two men were injured when the car they were in crashed into a traffic light and a tree in Kidderminster.

    It happened at the traffic lights where Stourport Road meets Foley Drive shortly before midnight yesterday.

    Police said the grey Fiat Punto was travelling out of Kidderminster towards Stourport and a white Hyundai i20 was heading in the opposite direction. The Punto crashed.

    The driver of the Punto - a 19-year-old man - suffered facial and head injuries and a broken pelvis while his 32-year-old passenger had facial and head injuries.

    The driver of the Hyundai was uninjured.

    Police want anyone who saw the cars driving before the crash to get in touch.
