    Funding has been agreed for a £60m wood chip factory near Hull. 

    Accsys Technologies is building the plant at The Saltend Chemical Park (pictured below). 

    The project will create up to 130 jobs in the construction phase and a further 30 once the plant is up and running.

    It will manufacture Tricoya - a durable wood product that can be used in joinery, decking and structural engineering. 

    The build is expected to be complete in 2019.

    The library there is a little bit fuller - after a book borrowed 36 years ago was returned.

    Inside Our Beautiful Homeland: York was a handwritten note which said: "Sorry it's 36 years overdue. Under 18 when borrowed so no fine to pay!"

    The Mirage Four was built as part of France's independent nuclear deterrent.

    Now the French government has gifted one to the Yorkshire Air Museum near Pocklington.  

    It will be the only one on display outside of France.

    It's on its way up the country at the moment and is due to arrive in our area later this afternoon.

  4. Hull City Council 'disappointed' at traveller camp on cycling track published at 14:09 British Summer Time 30 March 2017

    Work has been suspended on the new closed road cycling track in Hull after travellers moved on to the site with 12 caravans, vans and animals .

  5. Match abandoned after fan assaults refereepublished at 13:46 British Summer Time 30 March 2017

    An amateur football match involving an East Riding side had to be abandoned last night after a fan ran onto the pitch and assaulted the referee. 

    The Trophy Trader League final between East Yorkshire side Rudston Goalsports and a team from Scarborough was abandoned in the 79th minute.The game was being played in Pickering in North Yorkshire.

    The police say a man was arrested late last night in connection with the incident.

    The famous painting "The Shipbuilder and his Wife" will be displayed in Ferens Art Gallery this weekend. 

    It is part of the latest exhibition of contemporary art - 'Offshore: artists explore the sea' - curated by art commissioning organisation Invisible Dust.

  10. New procedures offered to eye patients in Grimsbypublished at 12:56 British Summer Time 30 March 2017

    Eye patients in North East Lincolnshire are to benefit from an additional service to help reduce waiting times.

    NHS North East Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has announced today that they have commissioned specialist eye health providers, Newmedica, to offer a range of treatments from the Cromwell Road Primary Health Centre.

    The service begins in April and will include procedures including cataract surgery and treatment for glaucoma.

  12. Travellers set up camp on city's new cycling trackpublished at 12:30 British Summer Time 30 March 2017

    There's concern that damage may be caused to Hull's new £650,000 road cycling track after travellers arrived at the site.

    The road racing circut, which is due to be the first of its kind in the region, is on land near the Ennerdale Leisure Centre and is still under construction. It is expected to be completed in August. 

    The City Council says it's incredibly disappointed that travellers have moved into the area and has now started the necessary legal proceedings.

    The insect has been found at two locations in the UK and now people in East Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire are being asked to watch out for it here. 

    Beekeepers are worried about the deadly impact on British honey bees, as the hornets destroy colonies and steal the grubs from the hives to feed their own young.

    It's thought the hornets could arrive in Britain via ships, docking in the Humber.

    Details of a £36.5m project to reduce flood risk along the banks of the River Hull are to go on show next week. 

    Environment Agency staff will be available to discuss the plans at the Guildhall from 13:00 to 19:00 on Wednesday 5 April.

  16. Police appeal after attack in Grimsby car parkpublished at 11:06 British Summer Time 30 March 2017

    Humberside Police are appealing for information after a man suffered what they are describing as life-changing injuries as a result of an attack in a Grimsby car park.

    They were called by the ambulance service at around 22:45 on Tuesday 28 March following the incident in the car park off Albert Square, Grimsby, close to Tennyson House.

    The 22-year-old, from the Liverpool area, is said to have suffered the injuries as a result of an altercation with three men wearing balaclavas and carrying weapons. The three then left in the direction of Kent Street.

    Witnesses - including two women who helped the man until ambulance crews arrived - are asked to call 101, quoting log number 672, March 28.

    Pocklington library has had a book returned 36 years after it was due back!

    It was returned with a note inside apologising, and saying the borrower was under 18 at the time, so there shouldn't be a fine. 

    The book was "Our beautiful homeland: York" by I.P Pressly and was borrowed in 1981.

    Prince Andrew is opening the refurbished Humber Enterprise Park in Brough this morning. 

    The Duke of York will be presented with the history of the site and meet with tenants before officially opening the facility.

    Citivale, the site’s developer, and partner, LRE Capital have invested over £6m into the old BAE site after it was designated an Enterprise Zone two years ago.

    People living on the Humberston Fitties have found out who the site's preferred bidder is.

    The Tingdene group is the favourite to take over, after the council put it up sale last year.

    People living at the chalet park near Cleethorpes previously voiced their concerns about the sale and even put forward their own community bid.

    The Tingdene group will now negotiate with the council over the lease.

  20. Watch: Beekeepers warned about Asian hornetpublished at 09:34 British Summer Time 30 March 2017

    Beekeepers are being asked to keep an eye out for the Asian hornet. 

    They are now common across Europe, and pose a threat to honey bee colonies. 

    A nest has been found near Tetbury, Gloucestershire, and it's feared they could be arriving via ships docking in the Humber.
