  5. Campaigners hit out at East Riding health bosses over recent decisions published at 12:57 British Summer Time 27 March 2017

Health campaigners concerned about the removal of hospital community beds and the closure of some minor injury units in East Yorkshire have expressed their concerns at the changes and how the East Riding Clinical Commissioning Group handled the process.

Jean Wormwell chairs the Bridlington Health Forum, a patient watchdog group

She says taking beds away is going to leave some people with long distances to travel:

The CCG confirmed last week that the Minor Injuries Unit in Hornsea is to close and those in Withernsea and Driffield will be downgraded. It means that people living in Holderness will have to travel to either Beverley or Hull for emergency medical treatment.

The decision was also made to create an integrated community and intensive rehabilitation centre in Beverley, meaning current community hospital beds in Bridlington and Withernsea will close.
