Two British riders are in the break. They are James Lowsley-Williams for BIKE Channel Canyon team and Tobyn Horton of the Madison Genesis team.
The peloton has woken up after allowing the break to get four minutes 30 seconds clear.
The eight out front will now hang there, like bait, waiting for the chasing pack to swallow them up as they get closer to Scarborough.

The good news for the peloton is that the gap has stabilised at about 4:30. They'll leave it like that now for as long as possible.
Roughly two million spectators descended on the Tour de Yorkshire 2016 race route to watch the action, with this year's event predicted to be just as popular.
Organisers have warned that starts, finishes and climb locations are likely to be the busiest areas for crowds.

The peloton are going to want to keep the breakaway group no more than five minutes' gap away - it could make the finish much trickier for them

Eight riders are clear. And it's great news for the Raleigh boys. Tea will taste so much better tonight because they have a rider in the break.
The peloton has almost come to a standstill after all that early excitement as everyone tries to catch their breath (or nip for a comfort break).
The escapees are already more than four minutes ahead of the main bunch as they press on.

Bit of a crazy opening 15km. Lots of riders trying to break clear without success.
The British-based Raleigh team missed an initial eight-man break but again it doesn’t stick.
Not great news for the octet who wasted energy but excellent news for the Raleigh boys.
There would have been questions to answer at tea-time tonight if they had missed out.

The riders rolled out of Bridlington in relatively sedate fashion, waiting to get on to more open roads before the race started properly.
A flag was waved out of the window of the lead car to signal the start of the race before it accelerated away from the peloton.
Half a dozen riders or so tried to immediately break clear but the peloton was not happy with the make-up of the break. Several riders will have been told that their only aim of the day is to get in the break and if they didn’t initially make it then they will be doing their utmost to get in it.
Yorkshire’s Russell Downing is among the early protagonists, but so far nobody is being allowed to go clear. The race cannot continue at this high pace for too long, though.
Defending champion Thomas Voeckler is riding alongside Sheffield’s Adam Blythe near the rear of the peloton.
Former British rider David Millar on ITV4 race commentary suggests it may take 20 minutes for a break to establish now so riders are better off conserving energy and waiting to make a surprise attack.
