    It's back to World War Two for Bridlington at the weekend as the 1940s festival returns to the seaside town.

    It's the second time the festival has been run after it was first held in 2016 after Dad's Army was filmed in the area.

    At the festival, which is due to be held on Sunday 11 June, there'll be an array of World War Two-themed attractions and a parade.

    Events include a chance for people to explore the cockpit of a Lancaster bomber (pictured) and a flypast by Hurricane fighter planes.

    Grimsby-born Paralympic javelin champion Hollie Arnold says she also wants to compete in able-bodied competitions after the World Para Athletics Championships.

  4. Schoolchildren join Opera North for Hull's Big Singpublished at 16:49 British Summer Time 5 June 2017

    More than 200 Hull children are due to take to the stage in the city later for the Big Sing with one of the country's leading opera companies.

    Pupils from six Hull primary schools and Baysgarth School in Barton-upon-Humber will sing alongside a narrator and a chamber orchestra.

    Humberside Police say they're concerned about the welfare of a 15-year-old boy who hasn't been seen since Friday afternoon.

    Daniel Chandler was last seen in the Heneage Road area of Grimsby at about 13:14 on Friday 2 June.

    He's described as white, 5ft 8ins tall, of "proportionate" build with short dark brown hair and blue eyes. He was wearing a grey tracksuit at the time of his disappearance.

    Police are appealing for anyone with information about his whereabouts to call 101.

    A man who was captured on CCTV walking over the roof of a parked car in Hull and causing £250 worth of damage is being sought by police.

    It happened at about 19:00 on Sunday 9 April as a group of men were walking along Holderness Road.

    According to police, the group look to be wearing a team kit and anyone who's able to identify the kit, or has any other information about the incident, is being asked to get in touch.

    Work to transform a bridge in Hull into a huge piece of public art has been officially unveiled.

    The Drypool Bridge has been painted with a design inspired by Hull mathematician John Venn and his famous Venn diagrams.

    It's to celebrate Hull City of Culture 2017 and took two months to complete.

  10. Huntsman to face trial over lewd hunt protest videopublished at 14:21 British Summer Time 5 June 2017

    A councillor who is accused of making lewd comments to a hunt protestor has appeared in court.

    Former Breckland councillor Charles Carter pleaded not guilty at Scarborough Magistrates' Court to charges of hunting a wild animal with dogs and of using threatening, abusive, insulting words and behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

    A confrontation took place at Duggleby in North Yorkshire in January when he was riding with the Middleton Hunt, which is based near Malton and which covers a large area of North and East Yorkshire.

    Following the incident, Mr Carter was suspended by the council, who later accepted his resignation.

    Charles Carter will go on trial at York Magistrates' Court on 9 October.

    Britain’s elite cyclists will once again sprint through the streets of Beverley.

    The event, organised by the Hull Thursday Road Club and EY Events, will be aired on Eurosport TV and starts from 18:00 BST on Friday, 21 July.

    The Beverley event has a first prize of £1,000 and a total prize fund of £5,000 and is round four of eight counting towards a national series held over six weeks.

    Some parts of Beverley town centre will be closed to motorists from as early as 06:00 BST on the day.

    A vigil's due to be held in Hull later to remember those affected by the recent terror attacks in London and Manchester.

    The vigil's due to take place outside Hull Station at 17:00 and will remember those affected by the attack at Manchester Arena two weeks ago today and the weekend attack at London Bridge.

    A total of 22 people died and many more were injured in the suicide attack at the arena, while seven people were killed and 48 injured in Saturday's London attack.

    There were high emotions at a benefit concert staged by Ariana Grande in Manchester less than two weeks after the terror attack following her gig in the city.

    Angie Theakston and her 13-year-old daughter, who are from Beverley, were at the Manchester Arena the night it was attacked and were among those who returned to the city yesterday for the concert.
