Det Ch Insp Stewart Miller says: "There’s no suggestion that these people were involved in the incident that led to Mr Richardson’s death.

"However, they were in the area shortly before it happened and may be able to provide us with vital information, so we would be very grateful if they could get in touch," he says.

  7. Appeal sees Grimsby attacker of boy, 2, detainedpublished at 14:16 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2018

A teenager from Grimsby who threatened to throw a toddler out of a window has been sent to a young offenders' institution after his original sentence was referred to the Court of Appeal.

    Justice of Scales

Joshua Ingram, 18, was originally given a suspended sentence after admitting making threats to kill, assault and criminal damage.

The offences related to an incident at his ex-girlfriend's former home.

The case was referred to the Court of Appeal by the Solicitor General Robert Buckland QC MP.

The court said the original sentence was "unduly lenient" and said he must be detained for three years.

    Quote Message

This young man’s violent temper left a defenceless child and mother fearing for their lives. The original sentence failed to take proper account of the seriousness of the offence. I'm pleased the court has seen fit to impose an immediate custodial sentence and I hope it brings some comfort to the victim."

There are more than 5,000 animals representing more than 300 different species.

Staff at The Deep count the species using just a clicker and a clipboard.

Among those animals being counted are some which are threatened with extinction.

    Quote Message

With many of our animals on the move all the time the annual census can take a number of days to complete. With so many to count, the species are usually divided up between the aquarists so it really is a team effort to complete."

Just 12 sites have been selected for the list by Europa Nostra, external, which described itself as "the voice of cultural heritage in Europe", and the Grade II*-listed Ice Factory is the only UK building on the list.

The factory was built in 1900 to provide crushed ice for Grimsby's trawlers, to keep fish fresh in the ship's hold.

Other threatened buildings and sites include the historic centre of Vienna, the Castle of Sammezzano in Tuscany, Italy, and post-Byzantine churches in Albania.

Henrietta Billings, the director of SAVE Britain's Heritage, says she's "delighted the importance of Grimsby's fishing heritage has been recognised on the European stage":

    Quote Message

The Ice Factory joins a group of high-profile sites and buildings across the continent singled out for their historic importance and vulnerability. We hope this call to action will focus minds on the immediate challenge of halting the ongoing deterioration of this magnificent building, and finding new uses for its future."

A recent report by North East Lincolnshire Council found that 16 people beg on the streets there, despite having a home.

The town's, MP Martin Vickers, says recently there was a "rising problem" with beggars in Grimsby and the council there had come under pressure from traders to do something.

"Unfortunately, that's moved the problem to the Cleethorpes. It's been much more noticeable in recent months and it's an issue that's causing concern both to shopkeepers and to shoppers," says Mr Vickers.
