Police were called to the Co-op store in Wych Hill, Woking, at about 02:00 BST.

Police are appealing for help to find a "vulnerable" autistic man who has gone missing with his dog.

Christopher Fisher, 31, was reported missing from Headcorn in Kent at about 18:00 BST on Thursday.

He was last believed to be in or around Dering Woods, near Pluckley, in the Ashford district.

Ch Insp Mark Hedges of Kent Police asked Pluckley and Headcorn residents to check their gardens and outbuildings.

He said: "Christopher is autistic and was distressed when he went missing. If you see him, please call us and do not approach him because it will scare him and cause him more distress."

Christopher was reported to be wearing dark trousers and either a blue rain coat or a navy blue zip-up hooded top when he went missing.

His black and white Spaniel, Molly, was with him.

A silver Vauxhall Corsa he was driving before he went missing has been found but police are keen to hear from anyone who saw him in it on Thursday.

Changes to the design of new houses in Rottingdean have angered neighbours.

The plans to replace one house with nine on a plot in Falmer Road were approved on appeal subject to a number of conditions including details of the design.

Now the developer Denton Homes has put in an application to change designs which were part of "condition two", placed on the project by the planning inspectorate.

In a report going before Brighton and Hove City Council Planning Committee, officers recommend approving planning permission.

Adjustments to the plans are described as "minor" changes to windows and the roofs of the different buildings.

Changes to landscaping are described as an improvement, as the developer asked to remove several trees to the western side and plant new hedgerows and plants to the south and north boundary of the site.

  6. Women taken to hospital after 'suspicious' firepublished at 08:52 British Summer Time 14 August 2018

The burnt out house in Swanscombe

A woman has been taken to hospital after a "suspicious" fire at a terraced house in Kent.

Four fire engines and a height vehicle were sent to the scene of the blaze in Ames Road in Swanscombe overnight.

The woman was treated at the scene by paramedics before being transferred to hospital.

Kent Fire and Rescue said the cause is thought to be suspicious.

Kent Police said it was called to the fire at 04:20 BST to assist the fire service.

A road closure is currently in place between the junctions with Craylands Lane and Church Road.

  7. Plans for 55 homes refused under local plan rulespublished at 08:18 British Summer Time 14 August 2018

    Generic construction site

Plans to build 55 homes in a parish between Bognor Regis and Chichester have been turned down because the application did not adhere to the new Arun district local plan.

The application, for the Wings Nursery site in Lidsey Road, Aldingbourne, was originally submitted in October 2017, nine months before the new plan was adopted.

The homes would have been sited outside a designated built-up area boundary, where development or re-development would be considered unacceptable.

Addressing a meeting of the development control committee last week, agent Gareth Giles warned there was a risk that the supply of new housing could fall, "exposing this council to the same position as in recent years - planning by appeal".

He added: "The council's housing land supply is too marginal to shut the door on all unallocated sites."

Members were sympathetic but stood firm in defence of their local plan.

Richard Bower (Conservative, East Preston), chairing the meeting, said: "The timing has been extremely unfortunate.

"Had it been launched earlier, it would have been considered under the previous local plan and the situation we were in at the time."

  9. Opposition to flats planpublished at 20:41 British Summer Time 13 August 2018

    Sarah Booker-Lewis
    Local Democracy Reporter

Neighbours have sent 34 letters opposing plans for an extra floor on flats in Hove.

Plans for the third floor of the Spirit building in Stoneham Road, next to the old Maynards Sweet Factory development, were originally before planners in July 2017.

Concerns were raised last year about the application as it is the third time plans for an extra floor were submitted for the site.

Previous applications were refused due to the impact on the Sweet Factory, listed as a heritage asset, and overbearing on 33 and 35 Marmion Road.

According to the new report going before Brighton and Hove City Council Planning Committee, previous issues have been addressed.

However, after sending 17 letters last year, neighbours have sent a further 17 letters objecting to the plans since Sunday 5 August.

Concerns include parking, overlooking and the impact on the Sweet Factory.

  14. Rochester Airport reveals planspublished at 18:23 British Summer Time 13 August 2018

    Dean Kilpatrick
    Local Democracy Reporter

An application to upgrade Rochester Airport will be submitted in the "next couple of weeks", according to its manager, Kelvin Carr.

Some of the new aspects, including a new control tower, require planning permission from Medway Council.

In June, South East Local Enterprise Partnership agreed to provide £4.4 million of public money for a scaled-back plan, which will no longer include a controversial hard-paved runway.

It's hoped the proposal will help to create 37 jobs and safeguard a further 25.
