    A police officer is in hospital after the driver of a suspected stolen car reversed into him in Accrington.

    The officer approached the stationary BMW 2 Series at traffic lights on Eastgate in Accrington, Lancashire, at 20:50 GMT on Thursday to speak to the driver.

    The car drove off after hitting the officer, who suffered an ankle injury.

    A man, 38, was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, burglary and drug driving.

    Here's our full story on some sad news that broke last night - a Merseyside man has been killed in an attack in Afghanistan.

    Luke Griffin, 33, from Merseyside, died in the attack at the Kabul base of security firm G4S.

    Four Afghan G4S employees were also killed when gunmen stormed the compound after a car bomb was detonated outside, according to the Afghan interior ministry.

    A spokesman for Afghanistan's public health ministry said a sixth person was also killed, as well as four attackers and dozens were injured.

    G4S is one of the world's largest security groups and helps guard the area around the British embassy in Kabul.

    The company in charge of the UK's only active shale gas site said it would seek to raise the threshold of seismic activity at which fracking must stop.

    Cuadrilla has had to stop fracking four times for breaching the current limit of 0.5 magnitude at its site in Little Plumpton, Lancashire.

    Energy minister Claire Perry said in October it would be "foolish" to change the threshold at present.

    Cuadrilla confirmed the plan but did not provide a statement.

    A British citizen killed in a Taliban attack on a G4S compound in Kabul has been named as 33-year-old Luke Griffin from Merseyside, the security firm has said.

    G4S said Mr Smith had been working for the company for eight years, and was based in Afghanistan for the last eight months.

    Mother-of-two Samantha Gosney was found by police at the house on Swan Avenue in St Helens, Merseyside, on Saturday.

    A post-mortem examination found the 29-year-old had suffered multiple stab wounds.

    Joan Gosney said the "shockwaves" that had hit her family since her daughter's death "will be felt forever".

    Forget the Premier League, it's all about one club in Stockport, who are creating football stars of their own.

    The Rose Hill Junior club have just launched their own version of the Panini sticker album.

    The young players can buy, collect and swap the stickers bearing their own faces and that of their team-mates.

    Each of the 200 players in the club have been photographed for their own players' cards and have created an album for people to fill in.

    Each sticker contains a picture of the player and their squad number but unlike other football albums there are no ratings or position
