    Well Leeds lad Adam Mayat is battling KFC, external in a bid to stop them building behind his home.

    Adam helped set up a local petition with his dad against plans for a KFC and Costa on the Gallagher Leisure Park in Thornbury.

    The company behind the plans say it will create 60 jobs.

    Leeds United take on Birmingham City tonight and head coach Steve Evans is backing striker Chris Wood to step up to the plate.

    Wood missed two headed chances to score in the 1-0 defeat at Burnley on Saturday, but Evans is sticking by his big number nine who has recently returned to the side after injury.

  5. Bradford man run over by thieves stealing his pick-up truckpublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 12 April 2016

    A man in his 50s has been run-over and seriously injured by thieves who stole his pick-up truck, external from outside his house in Bradford in the early hour of this morning.

    Police were called to Felcourt Drive, Tong, just after 04:00 after reports of a man with serious injuries whose black Mitsubishi L200 pick-up vehicle had been taken from outside his home.

    Armed police were sent to look for the vehicle, but did not find it.

    The victim suffered serious chest, leg and back injuries and is currently in a stable condition in hospital.

    The vehicle has yet to be found and was last seen driving towards Broadstone Way.

  9. How DNA breakthrough could help solve 1994 murder of Hebden Bridge schoolgirlpublished at 11:55 British Summer Time 12 April 2016

    New forensic leads are being investigated in connection with the death of a schoolgirl 21 years ago.

    The body of Lindsay Rimer, 13, was found in the Rochdale Canal five months after she disappeared in Hebden Bridge in November 1994.

    Her killer has never been found and West Yorkshire Police are treating the death as murder.

    The force said a new DNA profile had been identified, which it hoped would lead them to identify the killer.

    Leeds United's chairman sacked an employee because she and the head coach he planned to lose came as "a pair", an industrial tribunal has heard.

    Former Education and Welfare officer Lucy Ward told the tribunal she was "bewildered" at being dismissed after returning from BBC commentary duty at the 2015 Women's World Cup.

    A man's recovering after being knocked down by a police vehicle in Bradford, external

    The 54-year-old was hit by a marked Vauxhall Corsa in Manningham Lane yesterday morning. 

    His injuries aren't life-threatening and the police officers were unhurt in the collision.

    The temporary chief constable of West Yorkshire Police is to face questions from MPs later about levels of diversity at the force. 

    Dee Collins is one of a number of people giving evidence to the Home Affairs Select Committee.

    She's previously said the force is not where she wants it to be on the issue of diversity.

    Just 5% of police officers in West Yorkshire are from minority ethnic backgrounds, according to government figures.

  18. Tunisia terror attacks: Memorial for victims includes two from Leedspublished at 10:08 British Summer Time 12 April 2016

    A memorial is to be held later to commemorate the British tourists killed in terror attacks in Tunisia last year, including two victims from Leeds - Chris and Sharon Bell.

    Thirty Britons were among 38 tourists killed by a gunman at Port El Kantaoui in the attack on 26 June. A UK tourist was one of 22 killed in a separate attack at a museum in Tunis in March.

    So-called Islamic State said it was behind both attacks.

    The service for survivors of the attacks and victims' families will be held at Westminster Abbey.

    It will be attended by some of the families of victims, as well as those who witnessed the attacks, like Debbie Horsfall from Holmfirth who managed to escape.
