    Do you recognise any of these people? They could be witnesses to a shooting in Leeds in which a man was seriously injured.

    A 42-year-old man was shot outside Nitetrax nightclub, on Chapeltown Road in Leeds, in the early hours of Monday, 29 August.

    A 29-year-old man from Meanwood, has been charged with attempted murder and firearms offences in relation to the incident.

  2. Fire breaks out at glass plantpublished at 10:26 British Summer Time 7 October 2016

    Around 100 firefighters have been tackling a fire at Cross Green Way in Leeds since the early hours of this morning.

    At its height, 20 fire engines were at the scene of the blaze at Allied Glass Containers, although that number has now been reduced to seven.

    Here are the latest pictures of the inside of the building.

    West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said the blaze at the single-storey building, which is about 328ft (100m) long, started after midnight.

  3. Sikhs celebrate Langar in Leedspublished at 10:13 British Summer Time 7 October 2016

    If someone offers you some free food in Leeds today not only are they being nice, they're probably celebrating Langar.

    After 11:00 this morning scores of Sikhs will be giving out free samosas in Dortmund Square. 

    The giveaway will continue tomorrow in Bradford's City Park in Centenary Square from 11:00 until 15:00.

    What is Langar

    • Langar is the Sikh concept of providing free food to anyone, regardless of faith or background. 
    • Traditionally this would happen inside Gurdwaras but in many cases volunteers take their work onto the streets. 
    • The main principles of Langar are fighting hunger, equality in action and teaching compassion.
    • Around 10,000 meals a week are served by Sikhs on the streets to the homeless and hungry.

    Thousands turned out on the streets of Leeds last night to have a wonder around the city for Light Night.

    It's the annual event where buildings are lit up and special art installations spring up all around the city centre.

    Olly Murs has offered his support to ex-One Direction star Zayn Malik, after the Bradford-born singer pulled out of several concerts with "extreme anxiety".

    "It is definitely one of my worst fears and my heart goes out to Zayn," Murs told BBC News.

    The star befriended One Direction through the X Factor, where they were runners-up in consecutive years.

    He said Zayn's anxiety had only surfaced since he had become a solo artist earlier this year.

  7. UKIP probe after MEP Steven Woolfe hurt in 'altercation'published at 09:23 British Summer Time 7 October 2016

    A Yorkshire UKIP MEP is understood to be at the centre of an inquiry after fellow MEP Steven Woolfe was taken to hospital following an altercation in the European Parliament.

    The incident, understood to be between Mr Woolfe and fellow MEP Mike Hookem, took place during a heated UKIP meeting in the European Parliament.

    UKIP sources said "a rumbustious argument" had taken place following claims Mr Woolfe had been considering defecting to the Conservative Party.

    The party did not deny Mr Hookem, who represents Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire, left the room with Mr Woolfe, although a spokeswoman is reported to have denied that a physical fight took place, external.  

  8. Fire at Cross Green glass factorypublished at 09:15 British Summer Time 7 October 2016

    This morning around 100 firefighters tackled a blaze at a factory in Cross Green Way in Leeds.

    The fire at Allied Glass Containers began soon after midnight. The fire is now under control and the number of crews there is being scaled back.

    Large plumes of black smoke were seen by people in the area.  

    More than 20 fire engines were sent and three aerial platforms were in use at the scene, which is about a mile from the city centre.

  10. Two hundred gather in Bradford for meeting on bullyingpublished at 08:46 British Summer Time 7 October 2016

    More than two hundred people came together in Bradford last night to discuss the issue of bullying.

    The meeting followed the death of 11-year-old Asad Khan.

    The school boy died last Wednesday. 

    It's thought he took his own life and there are claims he had been bullied.

    I've been telling you about a massive fire which has broken out at an industrial estate in Leeds.

    About 100 firefighters have been tackling the blaze at a glass manufacturing plant on Towngate Link in Cross Green Way.

    West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said the blaze at the single-storey building started after midnight.

    Hundreds of people have come together in Bradford to talk about bullying.

    It follows the death of 11-year-old Asad Khan who was found dead last week. There have been concerns he may have been a victim of bullying. 

    Police are still investigating the circumstances.
