    It is starting to get busy on the roads.  Watch out for freezing fog and ice if you're out and about.

    Here are some of the latest traffic hot spots:

    • A1 West Yorkshire: A1 in Darrington busy but moving and heavier than usual traffic northbound at the A1(M) J40 junction  
    • A638 West Yorkshire: Heavy traffic on A638 Doncaster Road westbound in Wakefield between the B6378 Lodge Lane junction and the A655 Black Road junction in the roadworks area  
    • A64 North Yorkshire: Heavy traffic on A64 Seamer Road in Scarborough at the Hinderwell Road junction, because of a traffic light failure in the roadworks area  
  3. York flood inquiry calls for better public warning systempublished at 07:11 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2017

    Better flood warning systems need to be put in place in York, according to a new 120-page report into severe flooding in the city at Christmas 2015.

    Many of the city's businesses and homes are still coming to terms with the loss and devastation. 

    The York Independent Flood Inquiry has made more than 80 recommendations.  

    Those recommendations include:

    • The Environment Agency should discuss decisions such as opening the Foss Flood Barrier with other organisations
    • The agency should consider using loudhailers and sirens along the River Foss

    Two people, including a three-year-old child, have been rescued from icy water by police officers following a car crash at South Milford, near Selby.

    On the rails, things are generally running smoothly at Yorkshire's main stations. 

    However, there are currently some delays on services to Edinburgh, Liverpool and Manchester.

    Keep up-to-date with the live departure boards for Leeds Railway Station, externalWakefield Westgate, externalYork Railway Station, externalSheffield Station, external and Doncaster Station, external.

    Beyond the ice and fog, things are looking pretty good on Yorkshire's roads so far.

    However, be aware of a couple of possible problems if you're out in North or South Yorkshire:

    • The A64 Seamer Road in Scarborough is currently getting quite particularly busy at the Hinderwell Road junction because of a traffic light failure in the roadworks area
    • And traffic is reported to be building up on the A616 eastbound in Tankersley at the Wentworth Business Park roundabout
