    Hundreds have walked across the newly-reopened Tadcaster Bridge, which the public are allowed to use again after it was severely damaged in the 2015 Christmas floods.

    The city was at gridlock following several incidents on the roads, meaning for thousands of people their journey home was delayed by at least an hour.

    Leeds City Council say three separate incidents caused the problem. 

    1. A coach fire on the M1 that caused the police to fully close two lanes of the motorway
    2. A broken-down lorry between junction 44 (Leeds South) and junction 43 (Belle Isle), where the M621 joins the motorway.
    3. A broken-down vehicle on the M1 exit slip road at J40 (Ossett).

    A man is due to appear in court charged with murder following the shooting of a man in Leeds. 

    Jaydn Manners, 23, of Louis Street, Chapeltown, is due to appear at Leeds Magistrates' Court tomorrow charged with the murder of Raheem Wilks in Harehills last Thursday. 

    A 19-year-old woman who was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and assisting an offender has been released on police bail pending further inquiries. 

    A 31-year-old woman who was arrested at an address in Castleford yesterday on suspicion of conspiracy to murder remains in custody.

    It was due to open at 14:00, but as you'll have realised, that time has now passed.

    Plans to axe more than 100 jobs at Wakefield Council have been revealed in a bid to cut spending by almost £27m.

    The frequency of street cleaning and the number of children's play areas will also be cut under the Labour-run authority's plans.

    It said its budget has reduced by £144m since 2011 and it must cut a further 15.4m by 2018 and find £11.5m for social care over the same period.

    A spokesman said it would have a "major impact on nearly all council services".

    I'm out in Tadcaster where it's just a short time before the town is properly reunited once again for the first time since December 2015.

    It's been divided ever since the bridge here partially collapsed on 29 December after heavy flooding.

    Since then anyone wanting to drive from one side of the town to the other has faced an 18-mile round trip. 

    Final work's been carried out this morning to get it ready.

    Contractors have been working flat-out to put the finishing touches to Tadcaster Bridge in time for its re-opening at 14:00.

    It's just over a year since the Grade II-listed 18th century bridge partially collapsed on 29 December 2015 after the Boxing Day floods.

    Here you can see the final stone being put in place on the parapet wall, and workmen are now completing the resurfacing of the road in time for the opening ceremony.
