    Claire Renwick
    BBC Local Live, Sheffield

Adam Carter got 60% of the vote, resulting in the party's first seat on Rotherham Council.

Meanwhile, Labour won yesterday's other by-election, taking the Dinnington ward from UKIP.

  2. Watch: The Cooper-Balls do it Gangnam-style in Normantonpublished at 12:44 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February 2017

    Nick Wilmshurst
    BBC Local Live, Leeds

It's always good to see an MP out in their constituency meeting the people they're supposed to represent.

And sometimes that means they have to drag their spouses around with them too.

Here's Yvette Cooper MP at Normanton Common School in West Yorkshire, for example.

It's just that when you other half is former MP and Strictly contestant Ed Balls, things can get a bit Gangnam-style:

Knottingley Sports Centre and Castleford pool are shutting down because Wakefield Council says they're in a bad condition and are too expensive to run.

They'll eventually be replaced by a £15m leisure centre in Pontefract, but it's not even been designed yet.

Some local residents claim they've been forgotten by Wakefield Council:

I'm gutted, but I'm not shocked. I think it's a fairly typical example of how Knottingley's been treated over the years."

    Toria Garbutt

But the council says its budget can't stretch to keeping the pools open, especially as it has to save about £27m in the next year.

    Quote Message

We would have liked to keep all the existing facilities open until the new leisure centre is built. However, this is now impossible because of the relentless cuts to our budget."

Although the rooms are for children I didn’t want them to be childish because children of all different age groups will be staying in them. I also wanted to create somewhere parents would be happy to spend time too."

    Kevin Larkin

Measures to tackle anti-social behaviour in Hexthorpe are working according to Doncaster Council.

It's a year since a Public Spaces Protection Order and landlord licensing were introduced and the authority says it's seeing positive results.

Complaints about nuisance are down by a fifth, noise complaints have reduced by a third and complaints about dirty properties have been cut by almost half.

    But not everyone's happy.

If you've never been inside a mosque and you don't know anything about Islam and the Muslim way of life there's a chance to put that right this weekend.

Mosques across the country are throwing open their doors and inviting you inside to find out what goes on.

York Mosque, on Bull Lane, is one of the communities taking part in the Visit My Mosque project.

  11. Tadcaster Bridge re-opening: Anticipation mountspublished at 11:26

    Phil Bodmer
    Journalist, BBC Look North

There's a huge sense of anticipation in Tadcaster this morning ahead of the re-opening of the bridge there later.

    Tadcaster Bridge

By my calculation, it's been 401 days since the Grade II-listed 18th century bridge partially collapsed on 29 December 2015 following flooding caused by the Boxing Day storms.

Since then, local residents have faced massive detours to simply get from one side of the town to the other.

A short time ago, the final stone was laid and now engineers are busy resurfacing the carriageway, putting the final layer of tarmac onto the road.

The official re-opening ceremony is due to be performed at about 14:00.

Road traffic will be allowed to drive over the bridge for the first time an hour later.

Most politicians look to the future after being elected - thinking about what policies they want to see enacted.

But what do you do if you've been elected to the European Parliament just after the UK voted for Brexit?

If Article 50 is triggered as scheduled next month, the UK will leave the European Union in Spring 2019.

John Procter became a Conservative Member of the European Parliament For Yorkshire and the Humber in November 2016.

I asked him why he was taking on a job with no real future:

But Wakefield resident Karen, who looks after granddaughter Evie once a week, says there's already a lack of facilities for children in the district:

  19. Tadcaster Bridge re-opening: What we know nowpublished at 10:13 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February 2017

    Tadcaster Bridge repairsImage source, PA

With the full re-opening of Tadcaster's flood-hit bridge finally due to take place a little later today, here's a look back at how we've got to today:

    • The road bridge over the River Wharfe at Tadcaster partially collapsed on 29 December 2015 - one of several in North and West Yorkshire to be hit by major flooding
    • The government pledged £3m for repair work within days of the collapse, and £1.4m was given by the region's Local Enterprise Partnership to widen and strengthen the bridge
    • Work on the bridge included constructing a concrete beam on its north side, which is within the Tadcaster Conservation Area
    • The wall and parapet was then moved to meet it, meaning the footpaths could be widened to 1.8m, and the road to 7.3m
    • An objection from the town's Samuel Smith's Brewery over plans to widen the bridge was rejected in September last year
    • In November 2016,  "persistent and unusually high river levels" were blamed for delays to the repair and rebuilding work which was originally expected to finish in December
