    A bus driver has admitted causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving , external after a crash in Sheffield that left one teenager dead and another fighting for life.

    Paul Andrew Brown, 51, who worked for the First bus company, collided with Summer Seymour, 15 and her boyfriend, Jake Ford, 17, in Sheffield city centre, in December 2015.

    The Bishop of Leeds says a European Court of Justice ruling that a workplace headscarf ban can be legal shows that more work needs "to be done in relation to religious literacy". 

    The Right Reverend Nicholas Baines says this "raises vital questions about freedom of expression". 

    The court says bans on the wearing of "any political, philosophical or religious sign" need not constitute direct discrimination, but they must be based on internal company rules requiring all employees to "dress neutrally".

    More than 20 people have raised £3000 for YMCA Doncaster with their annual sleep-out event on Friday night.

    The aim of the sleep-out in the ground of St Peter-in-Chains was to raise awareness of the hardship young, homeless people endure during a night rough sleeping.

    The fundraising event saw people sleeping in DIY cardboard shelters for the night, with the money raised going to support YMCA’s work with vulnerable young people in Doncaster.

  11. Advanced resuscitation techniques couldn't save teenage kickboxer published at 17:11 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2017

    The Yorkshire Ambulance Service say they worked tirelessly to save the life of teenage kickboxer Scott Marsden .

    14-year-old Scott died after a kickboxing title bout in Leeds and was taken to hospital after the incident on Saturday, but  police confirmed earlier today  that he died. 

    A private events medical team was at the venue and an ambulance was dispatched along with the West Yorkshire Medic Response Team which included a doctor and a clinical supervisor trained in advanced resuscitation techniques.

    It's not long now before world class cyclists will race across Yorkshire in one of the biggest cycling events in the country.

    Both the men’s and women’s Y shaped trophies are visiting each of the six start and finishes for a day ahead of the race weekend and plans include visits to schools and leisure centres, as well as events in host towns and cities.

    The Sheffield & District Junior Sunday League have said they're to hold a minutes silence or applause in memory of Scott Marsden.

    Scott, who also played football for Hallam JFC, died in hospital after a kickboxing bout in Leeds on Saturday.

    Mick Grant, who is from Hallam FC under 15s team, says he was undoubtedly one of the nicest, kindest boys that you could ever wish to meet.

    A young boy from North Yorkshire has been made an honorary Chief Constable at his dad's passing out ceremony.

    Louis, 3, was given epaulettes by North Yorkshire Police's Chief Constable Dave Jones at the ceremony. 

    His dad is a PCSO for the force and clearly little Louis seems to want to follow in his footsteps!

    With only a saucepan for protection against German bombs this photo became one of the most striking images from the Sheffield Blitz in December 1940.

    Boy Scout John Flinn, who only had the pan to protect his head from shrapnel and collapsing buildings, was awarded a medal for his gallantry and is now a major part of the city’s new exhibition of the attacks.Now Sheffield Blitz exhibition organisers are trying to find out more about the life of John Flinn, who was awarded the Gilt Cross for bravery.

  17. Former Yorkshire fell-runner jailed over failed murder attempt published at 15:24 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2017

    A former Yorkshire fell-running champion has been jailed for 18 years after admitting trying to murder a senior UK Athletics official during a row about hormone tests. 

    Transgender athlete Lauren Jeska, who ran with the Todmorden Harriers, attacked Ralph Knibbs - a former professional rugby union player - with a knife at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham a year ago.

    The 42-year-old also wounded two people who intervened.
