    A specialist police team set up to investigate crimes against MPs has looked at more than 50 complaints in the six months after the murder of West Yorkshire MP Jo Cox .

    They include cases of hate-filled messages, harassment and criminal damage. 

    Last year, it emerged that nearly £640,000 was spent bolstering security for MPs following the death of Ms Cox in June.

    It's been a record-breaking year for Scarborough's Coastival festival.

    More than 25,000 people came to the event this year, an increase of 7,000 on the previous year.

    Organisers believe the town got a Coastival economic boost of £250,000 when the event took place in February.

  3. Police 'increasingly concerned' for missing girl, 15published at 14:57 Greenwich Mean Time 20 March 2017

    Police are "increasingly concerned" about a missing girl, 15, who was last seen on Thursday.

    Charley Tilbury, from Kingsteignton, Newton Abbot, is originally from the Crawley area. However, police believe that she has travelled north and could be in Leeds in West Yorkshire. 

    Charley is described as a white female, about 5’6 tall and of medium build.  She has long dark hair which is sometimes worn up. When she went missing she was wearing an electric blue top, blue jeans, a green jacket with a fur lined hood and grey trainers.

    Sheffield's Cultural Industries Quarter is to be extended in a £10m project.

    Flats, offices and restaurants all form part of the Alsop Fields which is in the Sidney Street area,

    Police are searching for a missing Doncaster teenager.

    Sixteen-year-old Leo Watson was last seen on Thursday evening in the Intake area.

    Officers believe he may have had access to a dark blue Renault Megane with the registration number HN55 VVG.

    Anyone with information is asked to contact South Yorkshire Police on 101.

  6. Flood alert for Yorkshire Dales and Yorkpublished at 13:51 Greenwich Mean Time 20 March 2017

    A "flood alert" is in place on the River Ouse in the Yorkshire Dales and the riverbank in York city centre, following heavy rain at the weekend.

    A "flood alert" means "flooding is possible - be prepared".

    The level of the River Ouse in central York is currently 2.15m (7ft 1inch) meaning there is water on some lower riverside footpaths. 

    No further rise is now expected, but levels will remain high through the afternoon before starting to fall this evening.

    The Environment Agency say they will continue to monitor the situation and update the information here, external as new forecasts become available.

    Former Archbishop of Canterbury Dr Rowan Williams , external is to visit the University of Huddersfield to host talks on spirituality.

    Dr Williams will address audiences at a conference announced for Tuesday July 11, speaking about the role of faith in healthcare before delivering the annual Harold Wilson lecture, both of which are open to the public.

    Dr Williams was Archbishop of Canterbury between 2002 and 2012.

    An amicable divorce sounds like an oxymoron, but that's the ethos behind a York-based company called Divorce Hotel, which has just held its first weekend helping a couple to untie the knot. 

    The  company's website, external  offers an office divorce, an online divorce - or a hotel divorce over a weekend.  

    They say a "hotel philosophy means everything takes place in a relaxed environment with all kinds of comforts and facilities at your disposal."

    A primary school is broadcasting important announcements in Polish on its radio station to help get messages across to Eastern European parents.

    Polish-speaking teaching assistant Tomasz Turowski is doubling up as a radio presenter at Miriam Lord Primary in Bradford, West Yorkshire.

    His 20-minute shows can be heard in the playground as parents drop off and pick up their children.

    South Yorkshire Police have sent us some images from last night's anti-terrorism exercise at Meadowhall .

    Emergency services and 856 volunteers were involved in the realistic simulation which took place in the early hours.

    A bomb disposal team was called to a second suspected arson attack at a Bradford restaurant.

    Fire crews were called to Raja's Appetisers Bar on Leeds Road at 02:00 to put out a small fire in the basement. 

    Police said a suspicious device was later found on the premises and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) officers were called. 

    The building was evacuated while the area was made safe. West Yorkshire Police is investigating whether it is related to a similar incident which happened at the restaurant on 6 March. 

    Roads have now reopened and people have been allowed to return to the area.

    A dementia charity in Rotherham's in with a chance of winning up to £50,000 this Spring if they get enough public votes.

    Lost Chord is one of a number of groups competing for National lottery funding in the People's Projects competition, external .

    The charity provides dementia friendly music sessions across South Yorkshire and in several major cities across England.

    Drivers in West Yorkshire are being warned to be on their guard following a spate of thefts and robberies where elderly women have been targeted at the wheel.

    Incidents have been reported in Leeds, Bradford and Kirklees.

    Victims are followed in their car and bumped at low speed.

    When both cars stop, the victim is told their brake lights are not working; tricking them into getting out to check. 

    While the victim is distracted, the suspects steal handbags and cash from the car and make off.

    A missing Sheffield man has been found safe and well.

    Charles Dyson, 62, was found in Sheffield this morning.

    Police are thanking the public for their help in the search.

    Officers are asking for help to find a Sheffield man who hasn't been seen since Saturday morning.

    Charles Dyson was last seen in the Norton/Woodseats area.

    Police say the bruises on the 62-year-old's face will no longer be there.

    They believe Charles will be in dark clothing and often wears Iron Maiden t-shirts.
