    The body of a woman has been found in a Leeds lake.

    The body was recovered from Waterloo Lake at Roundhay Park by the fire service this morning. 

    A police cordon is in place and inquiries are continuing.

    Dean Towers, who lives in Parson Cross, says he first called the council for help three-years-ago.

    • The Dewsbury Rams have confirmed the departure of head coach Glenn Morrison after nearly five years at the helm. Assistants Karl Pryce & Jonathan Schofield are in joint temporary charge
    • Sheffield United face Millwall this evening knowing four wins from their remaining seven games would seal their promotion to the Championship

    A group of young fundraisers from Doncaster are trying to raise money for English lessons for refugees.

    The Young Muslimahs group is hoping to raise enough for nine refugees to go to college.

    If you're wondering what all the fuss is about. Here's the new pound coin which comes into circulation today.  

    Who will be the first person in Yorkshire to get one? Perhaps you have picked one up this morning when buying your newspaper or coffee on the way into the office.

    There are three locations in our area where you can be guaranteed to get one, external .

    If you're in North Yorkshire you'll need to head to the Post Office on Lendal in York.

    If you're in West Yorkshire you can head to Natwest on Park Row in Leeds or, also in Leeds, the Yorkshire Bank on Briggate.

    For businesses across Yorkshire it could be a financial headache as they have to change their machines so they can accept the new coin:

  9. Ex-chief constable seeks judicial review over Hillsborough resignation published at 09:00 British Summer Time 28 March 2017

    The Police and Crime Commissioner of South Yorkshire Dr Alan Billings, will be in the High Court as his former Chief Constable David Crompton asks for a judicial review in to his removal from office.

    Dr Billings called on David Crompton to retire or resign in the immediate aftermath of the Hillsborough Inquests.

    Former Chief Constable David Crompton made two media statements following the inquests last year that found all 96 Liverpool fans had been unlawfully killed.

    Dr Billings says the statements questioned the Liverpool fans' behaviour on the day of the football stadium disaster in 1989 and his statements eroded trust in South Yorkshire Police.

    David Crompton disputes this and says Dr Billings's decision to ask him to retire or resign meant he was effectively sacked, despite insisting he'd acted in the force's best interests.

    An emergency "throw line" has been installed at a Yorkshire country park, dedicated to a teenager who died in Lancashire in 2011.

    Dylan Ramsay, 13, from Chorley, died when swimming in a quarry  six years ago.

    The new board, at Ulley Country Park in Rotherham, will act as a warning to people near the water and also house a potentially life-saving piece of equipment.

  11. LISTEN: Yorkshire pothole bill 'would cost millions'published at 08:37 British Summer Time 28 March 2017

    The repair bill to fix potholes across Yorkshire would run into hundreds of millions of pounds, that's according to a new report.

    One in six roads in Yorkshire will need to be repaired or even closed within the next five years. 

    The report also claims that each local authority has on average £5m of backlogs of road repairs to try and clear. 

    David Weeks is the Asphalt Industry Alliance director and has produced the report.

    York Minster has confirmed that their bells will be rung on Easter Sunday.

    The bells last rang in December. 

    The original team of 30 volunteers were sacked last October due to safeguarding issues.
