    The Brudenell Social Club in Hyde Park picked up the "Grassroots Venue" prize which highlights the work of smaller venues.

    At the ceremony Nathan Clark from the club said that he wanted to dedicate the award to all the smaller venues around the country.

  2. Watch: Masters tee-off times for Yorkshire hopefulspublished at 14:00 British Summer Time 6 April 2017

    Danny Willet and Matt Fitzpatrick, both from Sheffield, will tee-off later today in their pursuit of Masters glory.

    Willett will begin the defence of his Masters title playing alongside American Matt Kuchar and Australian amateur Curtis Luck at 17:24.

    American Jordan Spieth, winner in 2015 and runner-up in 2014 and 2016, starts his fourth Masters campaign at 15:34.

    He is playing with Germany's Martin Kaymer and Sheffield's Matthew Fitzpatrick.

    Actor Hugh Grant has been spotted in Harrogate this week, external as he films scenes for an upcoming movie. 

    The star is part of the cast of Paddington 2, currently being shot in areas of the town including Bilton and Ripley - Jim Broadbent has also been seen alongside film crews.

    Police are asking for urgent help after a 14-year-old was reported missing in Bentley, Doncaster yesterday.

    Callum Radcliffe was last seen yesterday at around 11:00 in Old Hall Road.

  5. Travel update: Seven mile queues on A1published at 13:30 British Summer Time 6 April 2017

    There are now queues of more than seven miles on the A1 southbound, from the M62 junction all the way down to J39.

    Highways England say that there are now delays of around an hour, with one lane remaining shut until about 14:00.

    Students concerned about safety in an unlit Leeds park will be lighting it up with lanterns, torches and fairy lights tonight.

    It's happening in Headingley where demonstrators say Beckett Park isn't safe after dark. 

    They've given a 3,000 signature petition calling for it to be lit up to Leeds City Council.

    Leeds City Council  says the safety of the city's residents is "of the utmost importance" but that "lighting can create a false perception of security".

    Some students say that they've been targeted by thieves when they've walked through the park in the past.

    A tourist attraction which depicts Viking-age York is to reopen after a £4m renovation with a greater emphasis on the role of women.

    Jorvik Viking Centre, in Coppergate, opens on Saturday following the devastating floods of December 2015.

    It tells the story of the site in the year AD960 based on local archaeology.

    Here's a few Viking facts:

    • York was settled by the Romans in the First Century AD
    • It was known as Eboracum and hosted a Roman military barracks
    • The Vikings settled in what was then called Jorvik from 866-1066
    • The Viking people remained even after the last Viking king, Harald Hardrada, was killed at the Battle of Stamford Bridge near York in September 1066

    People who are hoping to buy a Victorian pub in Leeds will officially launch their campaign tomorrow night, with more than 200 signing up so far.

    The Cardigan Arms in Kirkstall is one of only 260 pubs in the country that has been "identified as having heritage of significant importance", but has fallen on hard times recently.

    The brewery who own it are trying to sell it, so a community group in the area are clubbing together to buy it and they need to raise £300,000.

    It's hoped that it can be used as a community hub, the group are asking for minimum investments of £100 from potential investors. They meet at the pub tomorrow night from 19:00.

    After waiting 25-years to attract a multiplex cinema to Scarborough, the town could soon have two - councillors recently approved a seven-screen cinema in the North Bay. 

    Work there's due to start in the next few months, but now planners are recommending approval of a six-screen cinema with restaurants in the town centre, in the Newborough and Queen Street area. 

    Here's a picture of the proposed site for the additional multiplex, which a report says would provide a "boost to the night-time economy."

    A man has been left with a head injury after a disturbance in Bradford which has led to a street in the city centre being closed all morning.

    West Yorkshire Police say they we called just after 03:00 BST to Chester Street.

    Officers are now searching for a Volkswagen Golf that drove off towards Great Horton Road from the scene. 

    The injured man has since been released from hospital.   

    The road is likely to remain closed until lunchtime.

    A "vulnerable" 12-year-old girl is missing from Halifax.

    West Yorkshire Police are now appealing for help to trace Izabela Vorosova.

    She went missing from the Pellon area at around 07:30 BST on Wednesday

    Police and her family are growing increasingly concerned for her as it's very out of character for her not to be in touch.  

    She is white, around 4ft 11ins tall with long brown hair.  

    Izabela is known to have contacts across Bradford and Halifax .

    A Doncaster family is having to live apart because they can't find a home suitable for their daughter's medical condition.

    Eve Phillipson, who is 15-months-old, needs 24-hour care because of a lung problem.

    But despite the money being there for the necessary adaptations - a housing association property can't be found.

    It means Eve has to stay at Sheffield Children's Hospital.

    Her mum Becca says looking at housing lists week-after-week and finding nothing has made them desperate.

    A lorry fire around midnight closed the road, but fire crews were there damping down throughout the night and into this morning.

    Only in the last half-an-hour has the road was reopened again, but motorists had to sit in long delays as emergency services dealt with the debris.

  19. Doncaster hand transplant man writes letter of thankspublished at 10:45 British Summer Time 6 April 2017

    This Yorkshireman was the first person in the UK to have a double-hand transplant, with an operation at Leeds General Infirmary.

    Now, nine months on, he's writing a letter to his surgeon to say "thank you."

    Chris King, 57, pictured above after his operation, says the pioneering surgery last July has "changed his life."

    He's now able to make a fist, hold a pen, make a cup of tea and do some gardening, with his progress even faster than his surgeon anticipated. 

    Chris says his next challenge will be to "tie his own shoelaces and button-up his shirt."

  20. Listen: Bad drivers reported in their hundreds by publicpublished at 10:34 British Summer Time 6 April 2017

    More now on the 500 examples of bad driving sent in to North Yorkshire Police by members of the public over the last four months.

    It's part of a crackdown  which aims to work by encouraging people to send in videos of dangerous drivers.

    So far, it's resulted in 60 warning letters being sent out and 12 pending prosecutions.

    Inspector Dave Barf, from North Yorkshire Police, says the high quality of the footage received has meant prosecutions will take place:
