The BBC's discovered £7m has been paid out in compensation by schools in the three years, after accidents involving pupils.

Elsewhere in the country £20,000 was paid out after a child was hit on the head by a cricket ball.

A family in Norfolk was given £15,000 after a pupil was injured by a whiteboard.

And there was a payout in Nottinghamshire, after a pupil "collided with a post while blindfolded".

Figures also show the number of accidents reported in Bradford schools has gone up by more than two thirds since 2012, to just over 600.
