    A teenage boy who died in a collision on the M18 in South Yorkshire last weekend has been named.

    He was 17-year-old Gheorghe Ciuca, from Oldham, who was a passenger in a black car involved in a collision at about 19:30 on Saturday evening.

    He was thrown from the car and subsequently collided with another vehicle travelling in the same direction and was pronounced dead at the scene.

    Two men travelling in the car with him suffered minor injuries.

    South Yorkshire Police are appealing for anyone with any information about what happened to contact them on 101.

    Celebrations might be continuing in West Yorkshire after Huddersfield Town beat Sheffield Wednesday to reach the Championship play-off final last night.

    However, in South Yorkshire it's far from a party atmosphere this morning.

    A key decision at the climax of the match was Owls striker Jordan Rhodes deciding not to take a penalty in the shoot-out.

    A drug dealer who stabbed a man to death in his own home and then returned days later to burgle the property has been convicted of murder.

    Philip Craig, 38, killed Christopher Laskaris, 24, at his flat in the Hyde Park area of Leeds in November.

    Craig, from Leeds, then went back to the flat in St John's Close, where his victim's body remained, to take more possessions.

    He was jailed for life with a minimum of 25 years at Leeds Crown Court.

    Craig pleaded guilty to burglary at a previous hearing for which he was sentenced to three years, to be served concurrently.

    A North Yorkshire teenager who setup a swimming club for children with disabilities will be presented with the prestigious Diana Award later.

    Sixteen-year-old Jemima Browning was inspired by her brother Will, who has Down's Syndrome, to set up Stingrays swimming club in Tadcaster.

    Jemima will receive the honour at a ceremony presented by Princes William and Harry.

    Huddersfield Town are through to the Championship play-off final at Wembley.

    They beat Yorkshire rivals, Sheffield Wednesday, on penalties, in a dramatic tie at Hillsborough last night.

    The shootout finished 4-3 to Huddersfield.

    The step up to the Premier League, if the Terriers can beat Reading, is estimated to be worth around £200m.

    A dry, bright but chilly start with some sunshine.

    A soldier who died in World War One has been reburied with full honours after his remains were identified by DNA matching.

    Pte Henry Parker was identified after DNA from bones found in France in 2015 was matched to his great-nephew.

    The soldier, born in Scarborough and raised in East Yorkshire, died aged 22 during the Battle of the Somme.

    He was laid to rest with full honours in the Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery at Warlencourt in France.

    Pte Parker died on 26 September 1916. His remains were found where he had fallen in a field near Martinpuich.

    About 25 members of his extended family attended the ceremony, which came after the Ministry of Defence researched his identity.

    Yorkshire will play host to the launch of another general election manifesto today.

    The Conservatives will be in West Yorkshire to set out their plan for the country.

    Theresa May's promising to curb immigration and stop giving winter fuel payments to wealthier pensioners.

    Meanwhile the Yorkshire Party, which campaigns for greater devolution of spending powers from London to the region, will outline their priorities in Wakefield.

    Omar was the same size as all the other kittens in his litter when he was taken home by his owner Stephy Hirst in 2013.

    But now the 120cm (3ft 11in) Maine Coon from Melbourne, Australia, could be the world's longest domestic cat.

    After the supersized feline found internet fame to match, Ms Hirst said Guinness World Records contacted her to send in his measurements.

    The current record-holder is a 118cm (3ft 10.5in) Maine Coon from Wakefield.
