    Investigations are taking place after the death of a man in Doncaster.

    Emergency services were called to Elmfield Road on 14 May at 22:30 after reports of a group of men fighting in the street.

    A 57-year-old man was taken to hospital but died several days later.

    A post mortem failed to determine why he died so further tests have been requested.

    Four men, aged 29, 37, 41 and 48-years-old, were arrested on suspicion of assault and have since been bailed.

    A new campaign has been launched in Sheffield to encourage more people to get active.

    The Move More campaign is especially focusing on office workers.

    It's hoped the promotion will make Sheffield Britain's most active city by 2020.

    Police in Hebden Bridge have released a CCTV image of a man who's been missing for a week.

    Christopher Mulligan disappeared on 25 May and the above CCTV image is from that day.

    Police say if you know where Mr Mulligan is, you should call them urgently.

    He was last seen wearing black trainers, grey tracksuit bottoms and a grey hoody with red writing across the chest.

  6. 'Putting' the art into crazy golf in Yorkpublished at 13:28 British Summer Time 1 June 2017

    York Art Gallery is "playing a round" with the notion of art.

    The gallery's Doug Fishbone's Leisure Land Golf installation is a fully playable crazy golf course, with each hole designed and made by a different artist from the contemporary art world.

    Apparently, visitors interacting with the pieces through playing a round of crazy golf can "engage with important cultural topics, including migration, global warming and globalisation".

    The artworks ask visitors to "explore the histories and relationships between work, leisure, colonialism, tourism, information and economics", the gallery adds.

    And if you don't feel you're fully appreciating these concepts, at least you get to have a bit of fun with a club and ball...

    A stone will be laid at the weekend to commemorate a World War One hero from Ilkley who was awarded the Victoria Cross.

    2nd Lt Harold Maufe was given the honour after he put out a fire at an ammunition dump which had been hit by a shell.

    The ceremony is on Sunday at the Memorial Gardens in Ilkley and is part of an initiative to honour and recognise those who were given the Victoria Cross across the UK.

    Each stone marks 100 years since the recipients were awarded the medals.

    Harold survived the war and joined the Home Guard win World Wart Two, but died in a training exercise.

    Police are asking for help in finding Christopher Helliwell (pictured), who officers want to speak to in connection with an assault in Sheffield earlier this year.

    The 46-year-old is believed to be in the Longley area of Sheffield or the Treeton area of Rotherham.

    Police say he knows he is wanted and is avoiding being arrested.

    Anyone who knows where he is or has information about his whereabouts is being asked not to approach him but to call 999.

    An exhibition showcasing a lifetime of artwork by world famous Yorkshire artist David Hockney has become the most visited at London's Tate gallery.

    On average more than 4,000 people visited the gallery each day between February and May to see the biggest ever compilation of work by the Bradford-born artist.

    The work spanned six decades and featured more than 200 pieces, including many that were made in East Yorkshire.

  14. Twelve admit Leeds Halloween bikers' 'ride-out'published at 12:10 British Summer Time 1 June 2017

    Twelve people have admitted causing a public nuisance following a so-called Halloween "ride out" involving bikers in Leeds.

    The 11 men and one woman were arrested after the incident on 31 October last year, and they each admitted charges of causing a public nuisance.

    Motorbikes and quad bikes were driven up and down Kirkstall Road and through the pedestrian areas of the city centre.

    They're due to be sentenced at Leeds Crown Court on 10 July.

    Another defendant denied the charge of causing a public nuisance and will go on trial at Leeds Crown Court on 28 November.

    A further defendant has yet to enter a plea to the same charge.

    Former Coronation Street star Roy Barraclough has died at the age of 81.

    A spokesman for the Lancashire-born actor, who played Alec Gilroy in the ITV soap, said he died following a short illness.

    Barraclough kicked off his career as a comedian and pianist at a holiday camp on the Isle of Wight, before joining the Huddersfield Repertory Company.

    His other TV work included roles in West Yorkshire-based Last Of The Summer Wine and Last Tango In Halifax.

  17. CCTV appeal over serious sexual assault in Yorkpublished at 11:46 British Summer Time 1 June 2017

    Do you know this man? Police in York have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to after a teenager was seriously sexually assaulted.

    Officers say the attack happened in the early hours of Monday and that the victim is receiving support from specially trained police officers while the investigation continues.

    Police say the CCTV image was taken from the Kuda Nightclub on Clifford Street at around 02:45.

    It comes as researchers there are given a £200,000 grant to study the link between breast and bone cancer.

    Following last week's terror attack at the Ariana Grande concert at the Manchester Arena, organisers of the Leeds Festival are reassuring festival-goers that their safety is paramount.

    Festival Republic says it speaks regularly with the authorities and shares intelligence throughout the season in order to protect music fans.

    In a statement, Festival Republic says safety is its "utmost concern" and the festival perimeter, arena, backstage and offsite areas are all "robustly controlled and managed by security experts".
